Tools for Preachers

Okay, all you church historians this one is for you (or anyone else that might know)... I was given the book Tools for Preachers written by A. D. Evans, copyrighted, July, 1943. Any of you know the book??? Out of curiousity, I am just about to start reading this book and I notice along with the handwritten name and address of B.O. Funderburk (I assume it was his address)... I find the authors name scribbled out everywhere it is found...almost to the point of not being legible... Who is this A.D. Evans??? I have never heard of him....
