Jesus' lusted

Postby Full Quiver » September 16th, 2010, 2:26 am

Ole timer, Jesus indeed had lust and if your definition of lust is to try and get a girl in bed then I'd say most women can't and don't lust. Might want to rethink that.

Lust is within ALL humans, even Jesus, and it is that lust that is enticed which leads to sin. Now Jesus never gave into the enticement which is awesome. He taught us that we could do the same. Had Jesus never been tempted then He would not be human/man and YES that would make a huge difference in our theology.

The Scripture is plain and simple that temptation works from our own lust. Jesus was tempted and could not have been except that He had human lust within Him.

Do you think Jesus wasn't attracted to women? Brother, I've read the Song of Solomon and He most certainly is. He is the author of the Word, shoot, He is the Word.
I have piped unto you, and ye have not danced!

I think a better word to use would be "Desire" rather that Lust.
And Temptation is to solicit to sin, to Tempt. We only know of one place where Jesus was tempted to sin not only once but an third time by the Tempter (Matt.1-11) But in all these times Jesus never gave an indication of wavering only replied with it is written. So was he even tempted?

Jesus, said "Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God" where tempt would mean solicit to sin. To me how it reads Jesus wasn't even tempted but told Satan to not attemp to tempt the Lord God.

Lust ( epithumia - STRONG desire ) in itself isn't sinful.

We have legitimate God GIVEN desires. Nothing is wrong with that because GOD DESIGNED us that way. It's only when the enemy would have us satisfy those strong desires in an illegitimate way does it become Sin. ( Simply Missing the MARK )

This is why Jesus was guided only by the Father's Word. He stated He could do nothing without my Father. He only allowed His Father's Word / Sperma (Greek meaning "seed") that fertilized that strong desire within him. If he would have listened to the Enemy when He was tempted.. Jesus would have Missed the Mark. Yet He did not. Jesus had a legitimate need but wasn't going to fulfill it how the enemy proposed. Whatever is not of Faith is SIN. ( this is deep )

It continues.. because when God told Jesus He could eat.. He was next seen at a Wedding Feast to refresh and make the absolutely best wine! Awesome!

With all respect to everyone.. we don't have to redefine any meanings down to fit in our religious rule boxes. Some people really struggle in this area and are made to feel horrible, less [ insert religious titles here ] when it's natural. Show and explain to them instead... How JESUS our new covenant model did it. We need New Covenant Revelation!

tempt to sin? i see many places where He was tempted, all in context where he might sin. I am not sure what you are in reference. as mentioned, being tempted doesn't equate sin. but perhaps I am just missin what you are saying in text.

as for the difference in desire and lust, it is just semantecs to me. people will always have differing meanings of words they use, that arent' even dictionary reference; based on culture, and other variables.

Right, Jesus was solicited therefore we lust by the very act of being solicited.

It is interesting. The words "like" and "want", etymologically, aren't really what we use them as now. "Like" meant similarity of form, and later, a suitability and is more recently used as a synonym for desire. "Want" is, of course, a lack of something. It seems that the current meaning of "desire" may have been from "wanted" posters by the police in the early 18th century. The police lacked somebody that they desired, and put up posters, and a new meaning was apparently born.

The point is that these words are not so glued to their etymological origins that they can't be used to mean things that are quite different from their source uses. When you read the Greek term used to describe lust and desire, the salaciousness of it depends on the object of the verb does it not? If I say I want a criminal, do I necessarily lust after him?!!? No, maybe he's a fugitive and I just want him in the jailhouse. If I say I desire something, does that mean I'm sexually motivated by it? No, it isn't lust. It is desire, maybe an intense one, but may an altogether proper one. If I say I lust after my wife, then ...... heyyyyyyy.  (Kidding.....some.) Seriously, who's to say that's a sin? But, what if I say that I "want" her. Well, that COULD be lust, or it could be that I'm just tired of her being on the cell phone all the time and I'd like to get a word in between the 5 people from work calling her with questions at all hours of the evening, or it could mean that I'm hungry and she's a good cook and all that. Or, it could mean I don't know what she did with the remote control. Lots of things.

Are you saying that Jesus only appeared to be human or than in His divinity somehoow was more than His humanity and over rode the temptations so they were not temptations that could have lead to sin. Perhaps that His humanity was to His Divinity as a drop of honey in the ocean?

Wow beckrl, I gave you more credit than this.

Jesus did without food and water for 40 days. Are you saying He wasn't hungry? I believe the very Word of God says He thirsted, therefore, He had a desire or lust for food. Satan tempted Him to turn the stones to bread and eat. eating wouldn't have been sinful but to give into the temptation to prove whom He was/is and also having food as a result would have been.

If Jesus couldn't have possibly sinned then HE is nothing like us. The power is in that He could have sinned BUT didn't sin. There's no power in the thought that it was not possible for Him to sin. That's absurd!

Call lust desire if you want, call desire lust if you want. It's all the same. You can call a Snickers bar junk food or a protein supplement but it is what it is. I don't lust either, I DESIRE. I've never lusted after a woman, not not even as a teen with raging hormones but I have desired a few.

On that note I suppose Jesus was testosterone negative. Maybe He wasn't a man after all.

Alright guys, I was just being sarcastic  My point I guess would be that there's alot of things that Satan comes at us with as he did Jesus, but really was Jesus even tempted by those things.

There's times when satan places things in our way to cause us to fall, but just maybe I don't desire "lust" after that particular thing, but satan tries anyway. Just becasue satan came and "tempted" placed it before me was I tempted by it? No not every time. If being tempted simple mean solicit then yes I was solicited "tempted" That all I'm saying here.

The Bible says Jesus was led by The Spirit into temptation. Yes, he was tempted.

Being tempted is not bad, being enticed and sinning after the temptation is.

One could say to be tempted is human.

Now one could start a thread debating whether it is actually satan that tempts us or not. Personally I think he's too busy to mess with me. I believe I am tempted when I am drawn away of my own lust. I don't think satan puts all those things in my life.

Jesus did not lust, but rather was tempted and each case rebuted Satan with the Wrod of God. I often use the old saying; "you can't help a bird flying over your head, but it your fault if get to build a nest there", being to flying over your head being = to temptation. Building a nest there = to lust.

If being tempted was sin then Jesus was sinner and the scruptures says

2Co 5:21
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him

Some of your theology doesn't hold water, nor can be backed up with scriptures in context.

Lust is within ALL humans,

No, only the ability to lust. Paul said "Ga 2:20 I am crucified with Christ:".
Sanctification would do wonders for a soul.

The Scripture is plain and simple that temptation works from our
own lust

Cart before the horse, not going to lust untill after being tempted. That is why we need to be not only under the blood but also sanctified.

Do you think Jesus wasn't attracted to women? Brother, I've read the Song of Solomon and He most certainly is. He is the author of the Word, shoot, He is the Word.

Then you also should also read Ephesians;
Eph 5:30
For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
Eph 5:31
For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.
Eph 5:32
This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
God Bless
