Call me a luddite, but I miss the good old days when there was one forum and no one had to figure out where to post what they wanted to say. I kinda think we went a bit astray by separating discussions on various topics. It's hard enouogh to find time to check one forum, let alone five or six.
There are things that were helpful about it, I guess. Maybe the discussions about American Idol and other reality shows was better placed on it's own forum, and the sex and intimacy forum was probably less offensive to some who are embarassed by frank discussion on such topics. But why move prayer requests and praise reports off to the side when more people would be able to see them on the more visited forum?
And, I am mystified that there was never a specific COGOP/COG/TCOG forum away from the general discussion forum, specifically for discussing denominational issues and General Assembly decisions, polity, and policy. I mean, that seems like a no-brainer for it's own forum, especially considering that not everyone who posts here is with any of those groups.
Thetre is a certain "tidiness", for lack of a better word, to having topics pigeonholed in their own forums. Maybe it makes it easier for the mods to police the forum, I don't know. But even if it is less messy and easier to monitor, I think it's harder for people to get into discussions, which kinda detracts from the forum.
I am willing to abide by whatever the owner and operator of the board deems necessary, but I think maybe we could weed a few forums out of the current crop, and make the board in general more inclusive and useful.
Why is it that bad decisions seem to make to most interesting testimonies?
