The old covenant was between Mt Sinai and The Cross. Understand this. It's key

MacUser there are two thing that bother me about this and they are 1. what has that got to do with what we're talking about. What has the covenant got to do with lust and temptation.

Oh this is key and gives full wonderful context. I'll try it again.. Jesus also taught under the Law directly to the Jews - hence where the Lust on a woman scriptures were referenced - Jesus said that to show that it was impossible to keep the law. Then in Jesus NEW COVENANT that followed after he REVEALED whom He was.. He FREED everyone whom believes on Him from the Law. Whoo Hooo!

He Lusted ( Greek is clear ) to Tell US THIS!! Fantastic !!

MacUser, I have read some good post from you over the years, but now I think you have lost it.

He Lusted ( Greek is clear ) to Tell US THIS!! Fantastic !!

Mt 5:27
¶ Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
Mt 5:28
But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

I think that this the verse that you are talking about. No where does it say that He lusted (whosoever looketh) or that He sined in any way. You are puting into this more then is there. If you can't look upon a woman without lusting then get saved and then sanctified and you want have a problem with looking at a woman.

There is an old saying that says "I hate tell to you", but I'm glad to say my Lord and savoir, Jesus Christ DID NOT SIN HOW I KNOW IS BECAUSE THE BIBLE TOLD ME SO.

Heb 4:15
For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

What a lot of folks have forgotten is that we are to resist the devel

as 4:7
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.Jas 4:8
Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

Thanks Bro. Don't give up on me yet..lol On iPhone so limited... Lust or a strong desire isn't sin.  James 1:15 is clear. So no question on Jesus concerning sin..  No need to keep posting those verses?

My point again was Jesus teaching under the Law to Jews. He basically intensified the Adultery law to show that NONE could claim perfection. He was setting the stage for His NC

More when able

"desire" can be or not depend on how it is used, But "lust" is always sin.

".....looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart."

Bingo.. Getting it Right, context. Not Religious! Jesus came against religion and ate and dinned with Sinners. Whoo Hoo..

The KJV is a terrible translation of the Word of God. Remember Jesus wasn't speaking King James English.

The International Standard Bible Encyclopedia

LUST
(5 Hebrew and 5 Greek words are so rendered, namely:

(1) nephesh,

(2) sheriruth,

(3) ta'awah,

(4) chamadh,

(5) 'awah;

(1) epithumia,

(2) hedone,

(3) epipotheo,

(4) orexis,

(5) pathos):

The word both as verb and as substantive has a good and a bad meaning. It probably meant at first a strong desire, a craving, abnormal appetite, not only for physical but for spiritual satisfaction. It has come, however, to be confined in its use almost entirely to the bad sense.

http://www.searchgodsword.org/enc/isb/v ... mber=T5610

SO... Jesus was simply LUSTING ( in proper original context - Bridegroom speaking to Bride) to share His New Covenant. Remember.. I can't stress this word and his excitement enough here.. because He was destined to be beat & tortured horrifically and hung on a terrible cross ( for US!!!!) that very next day. So HIS demeanor was exuberant as He was released to Share the Revelation to Come..

This has been my entire point. Grabbing onto New Revelation. "Now you are no longer servants... "

Whooo HOOOO..... Thank you Jesus!

True He did eat with sinners, but did not participate in their sins. His words were;
Lu 19:10
For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

Jesus wasn't so much against "religion" as He was against "fault religion".

Mt 5:17
¶ Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

The KJV is a terrible translation of the Word of God. Remember Jesus wasn't speaking King James English.

No but at the same time He wasn't speaking Chinese either.

I have to disagree with you on that thought of translation. The KJV doesn't leave out bits and pieces and sometimes whole verses as the others do, and by the way I would rather spend my time to measure up to the Word of God then to try to invent ways to make it fit me as some translations do.

Jesus didn't ever sin, but man was borned in sin and to find favor with God then he will have to be borned again thru the Blood of Christ. This will involve faith, the Blood of Christ, repentance (turning away from) justification, and regeneration. It is only after this that one can "Whooo hoo".

Well, actually, did you know the KJV has important omissions also? Consider Jude 25:

"To the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen" (NIV).

"To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and for ever. Amen" (KJV).

Comment: Please note that the KJV left out the words, "through Jesus Christ our Lord."

In John 14:14 Jesus taught:

"You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it" (NIV).

"If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it" (KJV).

The KJV in this case omits "me" -- pretty important.

All translations, including the KJV, have issues.
"God is excited to show you mercy. He rises to give you His compassion." (Isaiah 30:18)

"For surely, O LORD, you bless the righteous;
you surround them with your favor as with a shield." (Psalm 5:12)

Wow.. You sound like that offends you? John the Baptist was also offended that Jesus wasn't what he expected either.

But Awww Brother.... Whoo Hooo... I love this revelation about my Savior, Jesus. Not only did Jesus eat and dine with the Sinners. They LOVED Him back because He didn't come to condemn them.. but thru HIM ( and HIS REDEMPTIVE ACTIONS ALONE - not our filthy cultural or religious washings ) we could be saved and our relationship to the Father be restored. He made them the BEST wine!! SO much did He love them that the religious groups called him a " Modern Translation".. WINO and FOODIE.. hanging out with the "mafia" of the day ( ie; tax collectors ). If SINNERS love you.. then that means you are a very REAL PERSON and non religious individual. You value them greatly and it SHOWS from your persona and you don't look down on this at all. He just loved them.. loved them.. loved them..

They then in return knew just as Peter did that "Love covers a multitude of sins" ( 1Pe 4:8 ).

That's MY JESUS! WHOO HOO!!

And finally brother nowhere have I said that Jesus sinned and yet you to continue to come back with that strawman argument.. and it shows you are missing the revelation entirely. I have offered extreme detailed explanation above and even linked in definitions of the words *sigh*... so all I can do is pray revelation on you above religious tradition.

And btw.. Yes as PG states.. the KJV is a TERRIBLE translation!

KJV:
Romans 10:17 (King James Version)
17. So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Romans 10:17 (American Standard Version)
17. So belief cometh of hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.

******************

Romans 10:17
Greek Translations

Alexandrian
ara h pistiV ex akohV h de akoh dia rhmatoV cristou

Hort and Westcott
ara h pistiV ex akohV h de akoh dia rhmatoV cristou

Latin Vulgate
10:17 ergo fides ex auditu auditus autem per verbum Christi

************

It's not hearing the word of GOD.. but hearing WORD OF CHRIST!!! And as you can imagine... I can give multiple more examples...

Remember real transformation comes by Truth and not from Religious Experiences.

WHOOO HOOOOO.. * extreme excitement *

Question, is it possible that they "added" to? Also who would you be asking if was not Christ. "in my name, I will do it. I don't see where there is a different here, but other places I do.

Jude 25 The NIV to me is saying that God the Father is receiving His glory, power, authority (dominion KJV) thru Jesus Christ the Son. Jesus is His own words said;

Joh 12:50
And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.

So what I'm trying to say is that what Jesus was, is and is to come, comes from the Father not the other way round.

Re 22:18
For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
Re 22:19
And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

The point of these two verses that I want to bring out is that it goes both ways. Where it doesn't change the meaning then I don't worry about it but I believe that a pattern is set. My thoughts

oletimer, your defense of the King James Version is admirable, even if somewhat mislead. I submit to you the following quote from http://www.greatsite.com/timeline-engli ... e-history/

The Anglican Church’s King James Bible took decades to overcome the more popular Protestant Church’s Geneva Bible. One of the greatest ironies of history, is that many Protestant Christian churches today embrace the King James Bible exclusively as the “only” legitimate English language translation… yet it is not even a Protestant translation! It was printed to compete with the Protestant Geneva Bible, by authorities who throughout most of history were hostile to Protestants… and killed them. While many Protestants are quick to assign the full blame of persecution to the Roman Catholic Church, it should be noted that even after England broke from Roman Catholicism in the 1500’s, the Church of England (The Anglican Church) continued to persecute Protestants throughout the 1600’s. One famous example of this is John Bunyan, who while in prison for the crime of preaching the Gospel, wrote one of Christian history’s greatest books, Pilgrim’s Progress. Throughout the 1600’s, as the Puritans and the Pilgrims fled the religious persecution of England to cross the Atlantic and start a new free nation in America, they took with them their precious Geneva Bible, and rejected the King’s Bible. America was founded upon the Geneva Bible, not the King James Bible.

Protestants today are largely unaware of their own history, and unaware of the Geneva Bible (which is textually 95% the same as the King James Version, but 50 years older than the King James Version, and not influenced by the Roman Catholic Rheims New Testament that the King James translators admittedly took into consideration).

Learn the history of the Bible as it is translated into the English language. I believe that once you have you will find the all translation come up short at some point. The KJV was translated as it was to make it politically acceptable to the Crown.
