I have a Dell Latitude D610 that has decided to, shall we say.. act out.
The Mouse pointer has a mind of its on.
It will all of a sudden stop working and floating diagonally up or down till it
goes off screen. If I try to take control its like tug a war. Leave it alone for a few min and you have control for a bit.
It has 1 gig of ram. and it is doing the same thing with fresh builds of Windows 2000 and XP PRO..
I have a wireless Logitech mouse plugged in. I tried a corded optical mouse and get the same thing.
This touch pad has the same response as the little joystick mouse control.
Is there a way to disable the onboard/builtin pointing devices.. its not in the bios setup that I can see.

"clear the Snap pointer to default button in dialog boxes check box"
Not sure if this is your case.
Billy n NC wrote:WOW... It is absolutely Amazing.
I watched the video on how to take the laptop apart.
Absolutely Amazing what PLUGGING the cooling fan will Do.. LOL
Dont look at me I did not unplug the fan. This is the first time I opened the case up. But the little itty bitty plug was sitting beside the empty jack..
I took some compressed air and blew the fan out. Squirted some WD40 (which we got at Fathers Day this year). Plugged the fan and and it took a few seconds it started spinning. Closed it up and The computer has been on for about 45 min and no problems yet..
Pastor Bill wrote:Billy is that one of ours? (sorry I haven't been on in awhile) let me know if it is, I'll have a talk to our techs that checked it. The Mouse may have been a software glitch (or I've seen them start doing that when they start going out and have to be replaced) but the fan is our mistake if it's one of ours.
check the BIOS CMOS settings. ther emay be an overheat sensor selection. also, once pictures are cached, the hard drive may not be running, so a slideshow wouldn't use as much power and cause entropy/heat dissapation.Billy n NC wrote:The D610 fan problem appears to be gone. Knock on faux wood dresser..
Now D620 is shutting off unanounced.. The computer will run all day long with screen photo slide show..
My wife starts surfing and writing it is shutting off..
Is there a Toshiba utility that will tell me if its overheating etc b4 I go tearing it apart..
