I would come down to visit, but it seems like after watching the Titans and Vols games, people from Georgia seem to choke every time people from TN are near.

They'll have to change the name of that song now; it's not "Hawaii 5-0" any more... it is
Hawaii 6-0!

Here's my thoughts on week 6:

Another week of upsets:

IL beat WI so now it looks like OSU-MI game will be for the Big 10 Championship.

LSU is the best in the nation. What a comeback and what guts Les Myles had to go for it on all those 4th downs.

USC knocked off by Stanford which I don't believe that will be the last game USC loses.

ND finally breaks into the win column.

UK's turnover's helped S.Car beat them.

UL loses again.

WVU knocks off Syracuse and White is hurt again.

Here is my Top Ten for the first time this year.

1. LSU
2. Cal.
3. The Ohio State University
4. Boston College
5. S. Florida
6. USC
7. South Carolina
8. Oklahoma
9. West Virginia
10. Oregon

I've been silenced over the past couple of weeks due to the sheer insanity that parity has created. Seriously, I've been shushed by the surprises. What a season! I don't think I've ever seen as many surprises. Last year, we had Boise State. Nice Cinderalla story. Now, we have all of Division 1 it seems in just a total uproar. Every week gets weirder, it seems. Can you imagine how much money has been lost? Wowee-zowee!

Putting your finger on this season is like grasping at the air. Obviously, I think, LSU finishes the regular season undefeated. Could Tennessee be their undoing in an SEC Championship Game?? Maybe UT wins the East. Maybe they become the ONLY team who beats LSU this year. Crazy? Oh, yeah, sure it is, but so's everything else. "It's crazy enough, it just might work..."

Or, let's try this one on for size. Auburn wins the West. They will face LSU after the Bengal-Tigers will have played Florida and Kentucky. Does LSU have enough in the tank to make it through that gauntlet undefeated, especially after playing the very tough game they played Saturday night? Auburn has one SEC loss, to Miss. State, but do they realistically (given how they're playing now) look like they'll lose again before they go to LSU?? And, if they beat LSU, does anyone doubt they'll beat Georgia and Alabama? I told you, it's crazy. But, if it happens, could Auburn wind up playing Tennessee for the SEC championship??? Yup, could happen.

Alright, about Bama. As I said before the season started, my yardstick for this team is different than from any other at any other time. The talent is not there in the key positions on offense, the defense has played better than I expected, but still very, very soft. To give up a 23 point lead (well, almost, we won but it could've easily been a loss) to Houston .... it is just inexcusable, I don't care who you are. But, on the other hand, the players execute the plays; coaches don't. Alabama suffered a lack of execution. Saban called it "relief syndrome", getting a big lead and just laying down. Alabama has suffered from that for decades. It is a part of the culture of this program, and not just a product or symptom of this group of players. It is something that coaching ... and only coaching ... can hope to address. At least we've got a coach who recognizes it, which goes back to my yardstick. Seeing what needs to be seen, developing a way to manage it and improve it, is something that this coach uniquely brings to this program. So, that said, an ugly win is still a win, and beats a pretty loss any day of the week, but for this program 2007 W-L are not the indicators of our future. Our future is wearing high school uniforms this week.

does anyone know that this is the highest ranking that Cal has ever had?

What a year so far! I'm with Pastor Rob USC will lose at least one more....LSU...well they have a good chance to go undefeated and Ohio State...well if they continue to get better on offense they can be a favorite to play in the big game ....

Boston College # 4?.....

I think its still open for the top 5 to change every week.....!!

I thought Cal had a #1 ranking back in the 50's sometime?

USF in the top 5?

10 teams in the top 25 are undefeated, I sure hope after all games are played we end up with more than 1 team go undefeated.
Let the wild rumpus start!

South Florida is undefeated and has cupcakes the rest of the way. It COULD happen that they play in the big game.

I was proud of the way Tennessee played on Saturday for the first time this year.

Glad to see USC go down and with their loss in the Championship game (letting Texas come back so late) 2 years ago and this loss to a way down Stanford they have dropped from their "Dynasty" perch.

AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now for my thoughts:

Georgia caused me to backslide and for the first time in my adult football life I turned off the TV. They are young and they showed it. However I am still with them. so GO DAWGS for what it is worth.

USC lost - love every minute of it

Florida lost - that was one heck of a game, but hate florida so let the good times roll.

LSU is number one

Ohio State seems to be putting everything together.

ND actually won a game - I am sure now they have qualified for a BCS Bowl game

Not sure how good USF is but they have beaten at least two solid teams.

I agree with Pastor Rob's top ten

South Florida, has to play Cincinnati, go to Rutgers and play's Pitt in Pittsburgh the first weekend in Dec. which will be cold. I would not call that a cupcake schedule.

Well, Well,,,,

Go State!!! 4-2 with a monster of schedule left. (not in any particular order) Tennessee, West Virginia, South Carolina, Alabama, Arkansas, and Ole Miss... I believe the Ole Miss game is winable but you can't ever tell till the last second of the game... The rest is going to be hard faught. But that's the way it is in the SEC...

I'm glad Ron Zook is doing good in the Big Ten. I always liked him so I'm glad he's doing good. He's bringing in some great recruits.

I was so glad when USC lost.... Boy, I was on the phone calling friends and we were all just laughing and shocked.

Tennessee just beating the crude out of Georgie. Who woulda thunk it! LOL...

Now you know how we all feel when one of your overrated SEC teams loses. It'll happen to LSU soon enough.

One of us loses every week because we have parity in the conference, to a large degree. That's what sets the conference apart. I'm not slamming PAC-10 by saying that, either; it is getting to that point there, too. But, we've been there longer. 8) When you guys get a conference championship game and some consistently good defense that requires brute force instead of a finesse type of game plan, then you'll get some love from the SEC folks, I think. We just play a different brand of football here, which of course, we will always think is better.
