Week 7 Thoughts and More Upsets

Postby KBevangelist » October 13th, 2007, 7:56 pm

Well I didn't get to watch but just a few minutes this weekend. I was out of town in revival.

Here is what I know

Ga Won - barely, but we won.

LSU is no longer king and KENTUCKY needs to be ranked higher.

Cal went down - Pac 10 falters again

South Carolina barely wins.

I think ORE should be ranked higher

USF is playing for quite well

So what say ye?

Top team by default will be Ohio State. Dont know who my #2 is but I would give USF #3, Oregon #4 and Boston College #5.

EagerBeaver, believe it or not this SEC boy is going to agree with your PAC-10 self.

I don't care for Ohio State, and I don't think they are number one, but by default...................

It doesn't have anything to do with being an SEC guy. It has to do with the fact that this Ohio State team isn't as good as last years. I don't believe (and neither do the guys on Fox Sports radio or ESPN radio - far cries from SEC guys) that Ohio State is the best team in the nation. There are several one loss teams that are better than Ohio State (in my opinion, which I do believe I am aloud to have). Ohio State gets it because that haven't lost, not because they are the best. Heard it several times today from all these radio gurus that seem to despise SEC teams.

And here we are, another year, another set of polls, same old arguments and no playoffs. The best team will once again be decided off the field.
At least it keeps the discussion boards hopin.

I dont make the polls nor do i get to vote. Is Ohio State a # 1 team....i still have my doubts. But they are there in the #1 spot because LSU and Cal lost! They are not there because of default! They won this past week end.....the two top teams lost....

It has to do with the fact that this Ohio State team isn't as good as last years.

I think Ohio State defense is better than last year....not sure just what the offense is all about yet....

There are several one loss teams that are better than Ohio State (in my opinion, which I do believe I am aloud to have).

And so tell me in ur opinion MrDanger...who are those one loss teams that should be higher that Ohio State in the polls?

And in ur opinion MrDanger who is the best teams in the nation?

do u think that that USF should be # 2 or better yet # 1? They have not lost a game and have played better teams that Ohio State....??!!

Here's what I love. All the debating about who's #1 and for the last several weeks it changes. There is a lot of football to be played between now and the first weekend in Dec.

This is from someone who lives in the SEC, roots for the BE. The SEC is without a doubt the best conference in football this year. The problem is simply this. They are going to continue to beat up on each other for the next 6 weeks and there is no telling who will win the East or the West let alone the conference championship game. Could be a 2 loss team in the East, I think SC and UK will get beat again. And LSU could get beat again so who knows.

OSU has yet to play the meat of their schedule, and USF still has some tough games left.

OK, has pretty much a cupcake schedule left because the Big 12 is terrible.

The PAC-10 may have only one loss team but I'm not convinced of that either yet.

So this weeks top team is not simply a #1 by default in my opinion. They are default only if no one wants to be #1 and it's beginning to look like that. Instead of who's #1, it's who wants to be #1.

Here's my Top Ten for this week.

1. The Ohio State University. Which I think might be better than most people think.

2. Boston College who will get beat before the years out.

3. U. South Florida who will also get beat before the years out.

4. Oklahoma I hope they get beat again before the years out.

5. Arizona St. who will get beat before the years out.

6. West Virginia Who should win out.

7. Oregon

8. LSU

9. Cal.

10. Kentucky

What another crazy week! I'm scared to predict anything anymore, except that whoever is #1 is in danger!!!

I think Ohio State is #1 because they are undefeated and were behind LSU and Cal. I also don't think they are the best team in the country. I'd still give that nod to LSU. IMHO, Les Miles lost that game to Kentucky at least as much as failure to execute on the field. Some really screwed up strategies in that game, but UK deserves some love. I don't know that they would've lost in any event, because everytime LSU had something, Kentucky had an answer for it.

Can you say "jerk" --- as in Les Miles is one?? What a little hissy fit he had in the post-game interview. His temperament is just ... weird. I hope he does go to Michigan after this season because I'm tired of having to see his mug in the news every week. I'd rather see Spurrier at LSU than Miles, and that puts SS right in the SEC West where most Auburn and Bama people would never want him, but I'll take that any day over Les Miles. I just really don't like the guy.

Looking ahead a bit, does anyone think that a Texas A&M vacancy and the impending Michigan vacancy reaches into the SEC with its ripple effect? Rumors, being what they are .... fun to speculate in football, have Tommy Tuberville interested in the A&M job, Miles a hot name in Michigan. What are the chances that two SEC jobs come open? If so, what will that do to fans in Tennessee? Does it put pressure on Fulmer to leave? If Auburn and LSU .... and maybe even Tennessee .... open up, what does Steve Spurrier do? Does he stay put in Columbia or does he move west? If he does leave SC, which school in the SEC has the best chance at landing him -- Auburn, LSU or UT??? (I say UT.) Would Ron Zook come back to coach at LSU (would he be asked??)??? Who would Auburn go after if not Spurrier? Jimbo Fisher?? Or, does Fisher cut bait in FSU and go back to Baton Rouge? See, ain't this fun??

Great questions dolfan, here's what I think.

Callahan will be out at Nebraska, in will be Turner Gill former QB coach at Buffalo.

Myles will go to Michigan. I look for Jimbo Fisher to be offered that job. Steve will stay in SC he's building to good of a program to jump ship plus he's not as young as he use to be.

Tubberville may leave Auburn, and I don't know who would be asked for that job.

Zook will stay in the Big Ten doing a great job at Ill.

Phat Phil is out at UT just a matter of time. I think UT will go after Jim Levitt of S. Florida.

One more thing about the LSU/UK game I felt that Joker Phillips UK OC did a horrible job with 2 minutes and change left in the game and ran the ball twice at the All-American and settle for a FG and OT. Not one time did he attempt a pass to Tamme in the End Zone, talking about dumb.

That's my $.02

As long as Tuberville doesn't come back to any of the Mississippi schools, I will be happy.... Do you guys really think Fulmer will leave TN??? or will he have to be forced to leave????

I think it will be a "leave or else" type thing. He will not have a choice but to leave.

I would be shocked if Tuberville left Auburn, but then again, he might.

Les Miles to michigan - who knows.

Fisher very well could head back to LSU but I think given a year a FSU he could be in line to take BB place when he retires at 150 years old
