Living to Give

Postby paul » October 14th, 2007, 7:42 pm

Several months back I was blessed with the opportunity to sow into anothers ministry. Generally I do not share the amount, but I felt led to share the testimony.

The amount was not very large, but I was impressed to sow $500. I sent the money out as soon as the Lord spoke to me. This morning I was in a church and the Pastor shared with the congregation that they were sowing $50,000 into our ministry. You can do the math, that is 100X what God had impressed me to sow.

Over the past several years the Lord has so touched me and has showned me the joy of sowing into the lives of others. Be it money, time, gifting or in other ways. God has helped me to understand that I do not give to get, but rather I live to Give.

I am so greatful that I had the opportunity to sow into that ministry. Look what God has done.

Paul, my friend, I love your stories of blessings! You are a great example of a BALANCED understanding of the principal of sowing and reaping, because the sowing is emphasized and the reaping celebrated.

I rejoice with you over what God has done, because I know you would have given the $500 whether or not $50,000 was returned.
"God is excited to show you mercy. He rises to give you His compassion." (Isaiah 30:18)

"For surely, O LORD, you bless the righteous;
you surround them with your favor as with a shield." (Psalm 5:12)

Thank-you for sharing that- this is missions month and it is definitely a time to be praying about God would have us to give.
..I press on to take hold of that
for which Christ took hold of me.

That's awesome Brother...God is so good.

I must testify about our blessing too. A couple of weeks ago I was at AtlantaBishops church. The speaker said that the Lord told him that someone was looking to buy a house and that it was coming before the end of the year.

We have been wanting to buy a house for some time and without sharing the gory details..I'll just say that we couldn't.

Near the end of the service the speaker stated that he was not going to accept an offering for ministering...but he was going to take an offering for the local church.

He challanged the pastors to give a specific offering amount. Which was a challange for me and I felt I couldn't afford that much. But my son was watching and I remembered what he said about the house and felt it was for me...so I planted my seed offering.

Before the end of the week we bought a House!! God directed us to it and we actually got it. God can truly make a way where there seemeth no way. And he will give back to us more than we could ever imagine when we are faithful to Him and His word!!!

Paul, thanks for this uplifiting testimony and example of the blessing of obedience. As a recent guest minister/missionary here put it, "The Bank of Heaven is at our disposal, and here is the the password. It is J-E-S-U-S."
