Full Quiver wrote:their are wildfires every year in not only California but in Florida, Nevada, Georgia, etc. and this type of coverage and protection (National Guard) didn't happen.

It's the scale. Firefighters here are calling it a once-in-a-century fire, like nothing they've seen. The NG is only doing security to protect the hundreds of thousands of empty houses from looting and keep looky-loos out of firefighters' way. Again, it's the scale. Local police aren't enough. And of course, the pictures the media folks can get are both dramatic and very easy to get and there's not much else going on right now that would be better for ratings.

Full Quiver wrote:It seems that the wealthiest neighborhoods are being effected and affected this go around and they are being treated differently or helped better.

The wealthy communities in the hills are at risk every year. This year is different because houses in middle-class suburbs are burning. The amount of state resources that go every year into protecting (and rebuilding) the rich folks' little fantasy lands is a perennial bone of contention here in CA but this year everyone's being hit.

Full Quiver wrote:Again, these fires stink, they are not the fault of Bush per se, but they are the fault of spineless politicians and leaders that allow environmentalists to dictate what the forestry dept. does. If the underbrush is controlled then these fires would not be out of control.

Doesn't apply here. These (for the most part) aren't forest fires. Our problem is unregulated development and sprawl.

To often we forget that the federal government cannot respond until requested to do so by the state. Race has nothing to do with the stupidity displayed by Nagin and the bimbo Governor of Louisiana prior to and immediately following Katrina. While it's true that FEMA was not fully prepared for a disaster of the scope of Katrina, it reached that scope because of the decisions made at the local level of government. Therein lies the difference in the two.

EagerBeaver: The situations are the same, the different level of help reveals a bias in favor of rich Californians and against poor New Orleanians.

forestwalker: The situations are not really comparable because the scope of the devastation and challenges faced are so different.

TW: The situations are the same, the difference in the levels of suffering that resulted from the two reveals that California has it together and New Orleans' suffering is it's own fault.

This is where you were right, Chris.

Maybe. If there's truth to it we'll see the results here in CA first.

That's kind of like prophesying tornadoes in Oklahoma, though, ain't it? :)

Well, that's one way of looking at it! Though, if you look at the specifics offered in the prophecy(ies) and the magnitude of the disaster, they seem notable, to me. I believe the prophetic is for today and Chuck Pierce seems to have a fruitful prophetic ministry.

Where can we find them?

Your confusing me here, statement #1 - they are the same; statement #2 - they aren't comparable; statement #3 - they are the same. Either they are the same or they are not. It is like being pregnant, you either are or your not, there is no . . . "almost or partly."

Sorry. Read Chris' post and my reply on the prior page for the context.

I had been trying to go back and find where I read them, but I couldn't remember. I do remember more than one had been talking about fire and the West Coast, and that Kim Clement was another.

I do not believe Chuck Pierce to be a true prophet. I was in several meeting with him at my previous church. The prophecies that were prophesied about the church and others, were very specific. They did NOT come to pass. According to scripture, that is the definition of a false prophet.

Just my personal experience.

I guess I will take over Gerald's post!!

If you don't mind me asking, what types of things did he prophesy? Is it possible it could yet be fulfilled, or was there a time table involved?
..I press on to take hold of that

Here's just another problem with the entire global warming farce. If global warming has caused wet winters which have promoted the growth of shrubs, grasses, and other fine fuel plants then global warming has produced it's own solution. The shrubs, plants, and grasses will consume the extra CO2 and thus there will be no global warming.
