I feel like this has turned from me defending the life of an unborn baby, to me feeling like I have to defend myself. As I said, I stand where I stand on the issue at hand. I hope that some can see the true heart of what I'm trying to say. I'm being misunderstood a lot and though my first reaction is to want to set things straight, I don't want to detract from the issue.

Mike, again, I appreciate the mental and spiritual exercise this has been for me. We are going to have to agree to disagree on this one. I think I've said all I should say so I will gracefully bow out.

As someone who has had an etopic pregnancy, I'm glad I didn't have ask the opinions of others to know what I was doing whether it was wrong or right in their eyes.

As for this mother, who are we to judge? I pray no one has to make that decision, but if you had to, the last thing you'd need is people judging your every move. It's between them and God.

Me, I'm glad the idea that your life wasn't forfeited because a baby that couldn't come to term had to kill you and die itself before it would be Christian to do anything about it.

Well, at least one woman stands with us insensitive-never-carried-a-baby male types...
Why is it that bad decisions seem to make to most interesting testimonies?

That's not the case at all. What you profess to stand for has been challenged, and rightly so. You, as a person, have not been attacked and won't be, at least not by me.

No, you are not being misunderstood. You have said very clearly what you believe and it has been understood very clearly. What you have said has been answered, and you have yet to refute the answer. Like I said in the previous post, I just think you haven't thought it all out completely yet, that's all. Maybe you will some day or maybe you won't. Life and Christianity is messy where the rubber meets the road, and a lot of preconceived notions don't work when you get them out and try to make them march.

If your comment was made regarding what I had posted as my "observation", this WAS a little unfair of you. I never put a bad connotation on the "never carried a baby male types" but I simply wondered if it had something to do with the way we saw things. Call it my own curiosity if you will.

If I misunderstood you and the intent behind this statement, I apologize.

Until that statement, I had opted to bow out of this thread. Why? Because I simply don't know what I would do in some of these situations. I know what I would hope I could do, but I am not blind to my own weaknesses either.

Shellie, I think that for the most part, women and men will have differing views on this. Women, as a general rule react more emotionally than men. Men on the other hand tend to be more logical in their approach. That's the way God wired us all. It doesn't mean that women are incapable of logical thought or that men are incapable of feeling, it simply means that each approach this from a different perspective.

Shellie, I mean no harm or disrespect in saying that, and if you felt any, I do apologize. But I must say hat it does seem a bit one-sided when you base your decision on the matter on the fact that you carried four children, which is a statement no man could ever make.

But I still would like an answer to my previous question regarding ectopic pregnancies. You never answered that.

I haven't answered because I don't know. I'm simply trying to be as honest as I can. I simply don't know.

I hadn't really given any thought to an ectopic pregnancy. I thank God that I was never in that position.

On a side note... with all they can do with surrogate mothers and such, why could they not take a fertilized egg from the fallopian tube and place it in the uterus??

But I must say hat it does seem a bit one-sided when you base your decision on the matter on the fact that you carried four children, which is a statement no man could ever make.

I threw that into the mix to see if THAT was why we felt differently. Not that it took away any validity from a male's point...only that woman had actutally felt life inside of them and perhaps that's why we are so hesitant to give on this.

Is terminating the life of an unborn child in an ectopic pregnancy in order to save the mother's life is murder?

Yes.

You didn't have to. You eliminated every choice except the one that supports your view.

I eliminated every choice but the one that God would support.

And, you seem to have decided she wasn't a Christian. Why was that?

Christians don't murder their babies.

That wasn't the choice the lady was given. She was told by her doctor (and a few others apparently), her choice was lose one or lose both.

The only choice we have as Christians is to follow His commands.

I wonder when I read this that if I were a lurker of this board looking for help or guidance would I want it from anyone on here? Not with what I've read so far....

Anyone in that situation has to make a very difficult choice, but isn't it something that is between them and God? Would you have a young mother of one die from an etopic pregnancy, leaving the child motherless? Or is your stand that there is no exceptions?

A2JGirl:

Please always feel the freedom to express your convictions or even your opinions. I want you to know that I respect your right to believe as your heart dictates and would never want you change your belief on any subject without the knowledge that true revelation brought forth the change.

Believe me when I say it isn't easy to change your convictions about life issues. It's an extremely challenging ordeal even when you know that God has given revelation. I know this from experience. Remember Peter when he debated with God concerning eating certain meats. He went as far as to say, "Not so Lord".

I want you to know that I have strong convictions against abortion. I have watched the "Right to Life" films and they are very sobering. By the same, I do believe that in life there are those extreme times and situations with every debatable issue that only God knows the intents of the heart and he judges accordingly.

I do look forward to future discussion on life issues.

Blessings,
