Walker Texas Ranger Endorses Huckabee

Postby DeWayneTN » November 6th, 2007, 1:18 pm

Check it out. One of my friends joked that if Huckabee gets elected, maybe he'll make Norris the "Secretary of Roundhouse Kicks."

I like Huckabee, but he has been a little dishonest about his record on several things. He keeps getting busted on it and isn't addressing it. A little disappointed in him.

According to a recent Rassmussen poll , Huck is now in third place behind Rudy and Fred!

Also, Bill O'Reilly owes Dick Morris dinner for betting that Mike would never get above 10% poll numbers.

GO MIKE! I have finally actually given money to a candidate, and I can feel good about it!

What are the specifics of this, Jeff? I would be interested to know.

The Demos started screaming that he was lying about his record on taxes. He came out and argued that he had not raised taxes, he had a record of lowering taxes. A conservative group came out to defend him, did the research and found he was indeed lying.

What he has done is this (this is an example, not an accurate statement). He would lower the sales tax 1%. In the same bill, it would raise the gas tax 7%. The overall picture was that the amount of taxes increased almost every year he was governor. He also passed several of the largest tax hikes in the states history.

There was another issue of where he said he did not have anything to do with a prisoner being set free that eventually murdered someone in another state and had never spoken to the man. They found documentation of him meeting with the man on several occasions and letters from him asking for the man's release, even getting some strings pulled to get him released.

As of the end of last week, he was refusing to comment on these things.

Ouch! I guess I've been really out of touch. I didn't know these things were going on about Huckabee.

I've only heard it on one source. I don't know if it will blow up or not. I imagine if he really starts looking like a threat to the other Republicans or even Hillary or Obama, the news media will start reporting it.

Troubling, but if he is elected and really DOES push the Fair Tax, it is a moot point.

The murderer thing is more troubling, and if it really is true, I can't believe that the media hasn't already jumped on it. Any chance to bash a conservative, ESPECIALLY a Christian one, is never lost with those guys!

The 7% gas tax increase was actually a voter approved referendum. Arkansas voters approved it with 80% support. This does not make Mike Huckabee fiscally irresponsible, when it's clear his state supported the tax increase. The 7% tax increase was earmarked for highway and road maintenance and repair. He does, on the other hand, have 94 tax cuts on his record as Arkansas' top executive.

This site should give you a clear view on Huckabee's stance on the issues. I like Mike and would be glad to have him as president of our nation.

You are giving one situation. I told you, that was a make believe example. I don't remember the exact taxes and situations. I had already stated that he hasn't addressed these situations. Across the board, considering all tax issues, HE RAISED TAXES!

Has he addressed the issue of on the man that was released?

I'm not trying to rain on anyone's parade. Support who you want. But don't be blinded by the person. On the candidate I support, I have gone to their website to see their position and then investigated it to make sure they are telling the truth. Do the same for Huckabee and others. Don't just blindly follow what their sites say.

A more recent article about Huckabee talks about how he's "shaking up" the Republican race:

Here's what happened. His record shows 94 tax cuts on his record in Arkansas. Here is another link on Huckabee's fiscal record.

](*,)

Nobody is denying those tax cuts. It's the FACT that he participated in raising taxes more than 100 times that is the problem.

You seem to be wanting to defend him against me. I actually like the guy and had considered him my candidate of choice early on. However, a few inconsistencies started popping up. Inconsistencies to me are fine (as long as they are few and far between) if you are willing to acknowledge them and deal with them. He prefers to hide his head in the sand at this time. Since he is starting to come on strong, he needs to deal with them now before it really blows up. That unwillingness to deal with them is what is sending red flags up to me. Just informing. Not looking for you to pull out HIS and HIS SUPPORTERS "fact" sheets.

Don't know if this is the guy or not, but there is a "Truth Squad" section on Mike's site now that is dealing with the issues.

And not to argue, Jeff, but governors don't "raise" taxes, they only sign, refuse to sign, or veto legislation that the state legislature proposes. A governor can have a "plan" that is proposed, but the legislature is responsible for the law itself. Same goes for the President and Congress. The President can't "raise taxes" he only signs, or not, or vetos laws the Congress submits to him.
