Vets make up 26% of homeless population

Postby Shellie » November 8th, 2007, 2:17 am

I heard this on the news this morning.

Being the wife, daughter, and twice granddaughter of vets and a worker with the homeless, this deeply saddens me.

Watch out. Don't go there. You're treading on dangerous ground.

you know, I am about to show some major stupidity here, but I will just to make people laugh.

I really thought they were talking about veterinarians until the vet joke. then I figured it out! Veterans!!!!

That's okay, teach. People slow down when the weather turns cooler. Too many layers of clothing.

It is sad.

I think the number on yahoo's mail heading said, "1 out of 4 are homeless."
Shame on our country! :( :x

A lot of them are from my generation, Viet Nam vets. They have seen too much, and did not get the kind of support they need when they returned. It's very hard to get past thirty years of social isolation and being shunned by the very people that you were "defending."
