call me?

Postby Penny » November 10th, 2007, 9:31 am

When people say call me if you need to..

Do they mean that?

Or is it just words one may say when they do not know what else to say?

Maybe it just depends on the person that said it..

Anyway.. I was just wondering.. If anyone here has ever told someone to call them if they needed to.. Did you mean it, or was it just words>

A little while back, some told me that, I really do not know this person that well. But seem like a very nice person. They gave me there numbers and told me I could call them anytime.

I even thought about it this week. But I just did not do it. I think mainly because I just was not sure if they ment it or if it was just words.

I think most people mean it. If not, they would say maybe "I'll be praying for you." or "I wish I knew how to help out."

"Call me if you need me" means (to me) "I am willing to help, but don't want to meddle, so it's your move --- if I get a call, it is permission to get involved."

Penny,
It really depends upon the person that says it. Many people will say something like that in a casual manner during small talk, and really not mean it. Others will say it, and mean it, if it suits their agenda. Finally some will say it and mean it because they have a heart to help whenever and wherever they can. Though I hate to admit it, I have been all three types at various stages of my life.

Don't let the fear that someone may not mean for you to call them stop you from reaching out for help when you need it. Just be cautious as to whom you reach out to.

Penny, I would say that if someone gave you three different numbers to reach them that they were sincere when they gave you their hand.

What she said.
Why is it that bad decisions seem to make to most interesting testimonies?

Some do say it without meaning it, but if they actually gave you their number, and not only one, but three, yes they mean it.

besides if they didn't, then they shouldn't say it, so call them anyway and they'll learn not to lie!

When I say it...I mean it. My number is everywhere and I take any call at any time. And believe me...some have taken me up on it. I've been up at 2 and 3 am counseling with someone strung out on drugs who thought they'd call me and confess.
