Mat 7:2-5 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. (3) And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? (4) Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? (5) Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.

I just got off the phone with my mom. I told her: "mom, according to Jeff you didn't know what you were talking about. Two wrongs do make a right."

She didn't seem impressed.

Did I miss a post here? I don't get it. If your mom knew me she would be less impressed. Impressing people doesn't work for me.

Now, I do have to ask you about your scripture passage. Are you judging my heart by how you read my post. Doesn't that apply to the scripture also?

Pastor Sam, seriously asking a question, wanting a serious answer. No condemning "your judging statements", no argument. Just serious answer.

Have you ever been to Trinity Music City?

Have you seen the wastefulness that these gifts from people goes to?

Do you have close friends that have worked there?

I don't "judge" them for what I presume. I tell you what I do know for a fact is going on there. I answer yes to all of these questions.

I don't judge a person's heart. I don't know their heart. I would appreciate it if you would extend me the same courtesy. You don't know me. You don't know how I live my life and it is absolute inexcusable for a Christian, let a lone a minister of the gospel to "judge" me that way.

And as far as your mother. I do and have prayed that God will bless the people that give to these ministries. It seriously sickens me the abuses that I have seen and know are going on there at Trinity Music City.

But just like those that give, I have prayed for those that have come to those services seeking answers from a very real God that loves them dearly.

Jeff, I'm not Sam but I think he was probably referring to the original posts about Benny Hinn rather than your post about Trinity Music City... and he would probably agree that your description of it sounds horrible

And he didn't really speak with his mom, that was only a joke. :)

This is why I sometimes dislike threads about Benny Hinn et al. And even though he has made some very huge boo-boos (or errors or sins or whatever you want to call them), the fact that that clip is about 20 years old makes me think this news story has just about outlived the wedding of Princess Diana to Prince Charles..(hee hee.):) Pretty impressive! Even the hot wives church and the girls gone wild church haven't gotten as strong a reaction.

Of course not. They're not leading people to hell as fast as Benny is

Jeff, I am giving you a serious answer since my joke didn't work.

No, I have never been to Trinity Music City. I certainly don't defend financial misuse or abuse in Jesus' name. Nor do I defend personal mistreatment or abuse of people in Jesus' name.

Criticizing Benny Hinn for his 20 year old "Holy Ghost machine gun" statement, which he has since repented of, and making fun of his haircut and "joking" about shoving him off a building are unchristian and ungracious things to do.

Two wrongs don't make a right, which all of our mothers have told us many times, even if we think a person is guilty of "bilking people" out of their money. We have a responsibility to treat people in a Christlike and gracious manner regardless of what they have done, and we're all going to be judged someday for our actions. And on that day, saying: "It was OK for me to act that way because you know how bad Benny Hinn was" isn't going to justify us before Christ.

Here is the Christlike way in handling the merchandising of the saints.

John 2:13-16

13 When it was almost time for the Jewish Passover, Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 14 In the temple courts he found men selling cattle, sheep and doves, and others sitting at tables exchanging money. 15 So he made a whip out of cords, and drove all from the temple area, both sheep and cattle; he scattered the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables. 16 To those who sold doves he said, "Get these out of here! How dare you turn my Father's house into a market!"

Luk 9:54-55 And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did? (55) But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of.

Jessea- if you think we are supposed to physically assault Benny Hinn, then why haven't you?

Well, if you're Jesus, you can do that to anyone you think you should. All of us who are not Jesus are to observe that other scripture, "vengeance is mine, I will repay". Yes, we are to be watchful for false prophets, and to contend for the faith against those who would distort it for whatever reason. But I personally believe the ones God calls to publicly stand against those who refuse correction in private will be folks who don't get a bang out of doing it. As for the rest of us, if we know better than to go to one of their meetings, then we don't go. If we know better than to donate to a ministry, then we don't. And in the meantime, we keep a good report on our lips about what Jesus is doing in the world. We don't give the enemy free publicity for all the things he's up to.

I remember hearing about a time Mother Teresa was asked to be on a talk show with a Catholic theologian. That guy quoted scriptures and historical documents, made complicated doctrinal points, and finished his presentation by inviting her to agree or explain why she didn't.

When her time to speak came, all she would say was that she believed in the Gospel and the Love of God for mankind. After that, she said nothing else. The whole time the theologian had been speaking, she had been quietly praying, and when her time to speak came, that was all she had to say. She had no theological position to defend. Her life was given to showing the love of God to the poorest of the poor. The theologian was completely stonkered by the love in her voice and the simple truth of what she said, backed up by the years she had given to practicing it.

I pray I will become full of the love of God, instead of full of arguments for and against what I agree and disagree with. I suspect the answer she gave, with the proof of a life living it out to back it up, may be that answer we are to give for hope within us, in and out of season.
Why is it that bad decisions seem to make to most interesting testimonies?

When I posted the video clip of Benny Hinn, it was not intended as a judgment against him. I realize that something a person has done in the past should have no bearing on what he, or she, may be doing at the present, unless their actions show a continuation of their past. I have seen the same attitude displayed not long ago in his remarks to (about) the media when questions were raised about his finances. Repenting of a wrong doesn’t make it right. A wrong can never be made right. It can be forgiven, but something that happened in the past is locked in time. Repentance and or restitution can compensate for the wrong and can bring forgiveness, but what good are they if they are not accompanied by a changed life and actions? (I saw him on TBN this morning using the same tactics as the rest of the fund raisers use to convince the viewers that the only way to receive anything from God is to buy it by giving to TBN). And his healing service tactics haven’t changed. He still shoves people to the floor, lifts them up so he can shove them down again, or slings his arm and masses of people fall backwards to the floor, and claims this is the power of God. Some of these know what they are doing and intentionally fall, but others are mesmerized by being in his presence and are overcome through a system known as mass hypnotism.

It is one thing for adults to be taken in by him, but it is something altogether different to me, when I see him and others, exploiting and using little children and their innocence to promote their claims of working under the power and direction of God. He pushes them to the floor and convinces them of a healing, or that God is doing something special in their lives like calling them to the ministry. Jesus said those who offend these little ones are worthy of a certain fate.

I realize we do not have the authority to judge, but we do have the authority, and the right, and an obligation to warn those whom we can against false teachers and false ministries. Scriptures in both the old and new testaments tell the followers of righteousness to not only do this, but that we must do this. How else can we fight against the rulers of the darkness of this world if we are going to do nothing more than tell people that Jesus is good and compromise with the evil that is prevalent in the religious movements. Satan doesn’t dwell only in the drunken revelries on skid-row and in the Pagan rituals of cultism. He loves it when he can transform himself into an angel of light and dwell among the people of God.

The same passage of scripture in Matthew that tells us to not judge others also tells us in the 5th verse to cast the beams out of our own eyes and, by doing so, we can see a mote in a brother’s eye. Some of us may have cleaned up our own act just enough that, while we don’t claim to be perfect, can at least see clearly enough to spot a few of the “wolves in sheep’s clothing” who are hanging out among us. Matthew Henry’s commentary says this, “While we must not judge others, which is a great sin, it does not follow that we must not reprove others, which is a great duty,…..’it is not everyone who is fit to reprove. Those who are guilty of the same faults of which they accuse others, or of worse, bring shame upon themselves and are likely to do no good to those whom they reprove.”

Some of us have no way or feel it would be futile to try to make a change in a ministry such as Benny Hinn’s and are left with one alternative; teach the truth and warn of false teachers as those described in 2 Peter: 1-3

We are in a spiritual war and I am reminded of 3 wars this country has fought. We lost 2 and won 1. We compromised our way out of Vietnam and a whole country lost their freedom. We compromised our way out of Korea and half a country lost their freedom. A different tactic was used in World War 2 and the entire world was made free.

It seems that talking is our main recourse in this spiritual war and while we need to choose our words wisely we need not be quieted. I refuse to compromise with something that I see is attempting to destroy God’s church and put His people in bondage.
