In my opinion a vote for the devil is a vote for the devil no matter what shape he takes (it's the spirit involved).

Well, WADA, then. (We Agree to Disagree Agreeably)

And congratulations to President Hillary Rodham Clinton on her victory.

Unbelievable as it may be, I agree with Quiver on this. Guiliani has real problems. As Quiver said, the base will not be overly enthused about him (although I suppose many would come out to vote for him just because they are scared pantless about a President Hillary). He's also got some scandals and judgement errors plaguing him. Namely, this whole mess with Bernard Kerik getting indicted this week, and his own extra marital affairs. Who wants a Republican Bill Clinton type in office?

Also, many forget this, but Rudy was pretty unpopular in NYC just prior to 9-11. He didn't become "America's Mayor" until after the terrorist attacks. (Although, he did do a fine job leading NYC through that difficult time). Many forget that he had the opportunity to run against Hillary once before, during her initial Senate race. He opted out, partly, I believe, because he knew he couldn't beat her.

You are missing the mark imho. I'm just saying these single issue antiwar voters exist and possibly supporting Ron Paul more than the Republican Base. The media would like for you to believe this.. it's FAR from the truth. Example on this old article.. these people exist, like Cindy Sheehan and that group that was thrown overboard:

http://www.villagevoice.com/news/0550,l ... 931,6.html

Conventional wisdom has it that Hillary Clinton enjoys a solid lock on her liberal base..

So when Clinton became New York's junior senator in 2000, Stricklin, a progressive Democratic activist, considered it "so perfect." He explains, "I thought, 'She helped me years ago and I can help her.' And now this . . . ".... By "this," he means the Iraq war—or more precisely, Clinton's position on the Iraq war. Stricklin, who heads the Village Independent Democrats, cannot forget her stance

MacUser,

Do you really think that a liberal is going to vote for Ron Paul? This guy wants to cut taxes, build a border fence, ban abortion, and is pro-2nd amendment. Whether he's anti-war or not, they ain't gonna vote for him.

Heck, I'd vote for him if he would get his head out of the sand about the need to fight Islamofacism overseas.

All of which supports my original point. He'll draw far more support off of the conservative(GOP) candidate than the liberal(democratic) candidate, which will hurt the GOP's chances of winning the general election.

I know that the majority consensus among Christians is that we have to fight for "a place at the table" in out culture to be salt and light in it. It's the working hypothesis at the root of my strategy for living in a pluralistic culture.

But I'm not without certain concerns on it. It's nothing new to ask "what if the table itself is corrupted and corrupting? Won't participating eventually corrupt anybody who takes a seat there?"

I think the Bible is pretty clear about doing what you believe is wrong, even if it is a matter of meat sacrificed to idols. Christians are not supposed to violate their consciences by doing what they believe is wrong. Keeping the greater of two evils from gaining power by ignoring your conscience for the sake of expediency isn't really offered as a scenario.

As things are right now, I'm with Gary; I'd vote to keep the she-devil out of office, even if it meant involuntarily emptying my stomach over it afterwards.

But geez louise, sometimes I wonder if those wacky Amish don't have a better handle on living in the world without being of it than most Christians do...
Why is it that bad decisions seem to make to most interesting testimonies?

Even the Catholic Church isn't backing Guiliani. I read an article about the Catholics and what they are saying about the present candidates. Guiliani is a no-no; you'll go to hell over it.

I think YES.. the support you see flooding into Paul is from single issue anti-war former Democrat supporters (plus other left Christian leaning democrats that just can't bear to vote for what the moveon.org Dems now stand for) and yes attempting to influence the Republican nomination process - Absolutely yes.

That one comment he made about US being responsible for 9-11 will NEVER ever get him a single informed conservative vote. It was ridiculous and will immediately excuse him from consideration.

But all of this is moot unless he goes third party... but I wanted to establish where this "ground swell" was coming from imho.
