We went to Charles Stanley's church yesterday

Postby Kenya » November 19th, 2007, 2:07 am

What a cool experience. To be so big, it didn't seem so big. The music was awesome and moving - both the orchestra and the choir - what time must be spent preparing one service. Was surprised to see hand clapping and some hands raised. There was a soloist that was so very talented. Of course, the sermon was challenging. I took 3 pages of notes writing as fast as I could. Just a great overall experience. He's doing a real good thing.

Next time we're visiting Andy's church.

No, just went to visit Joey's folks. Going to FBA was just something we've always wanted to do. Since Joey's parents aren't at Marietta anymore, we decided to visit First Baptist.

Oh Yes, Baptists clap and raise their hands!

Not in great hordes mind you, but they do it :0)

Blessings,
Tracy

Andy Stanley is an excellent speaker. I used to listen to him at Metro Bible Study at Mt. Paran.

I enjoy Andy's ministry, but I can't say the same for his father. That isn't meant to be disrespectful, I just have not found his ministry style to be of interest.

I'm proud that you had a good time, Kenya. Have you ever visited Mt. Paran Church of God?

If you go to see Andy make sure he is there. He has 2 satellite churches. In those churches after the worship, the lights dim and a huge screen go across the entire legnth of the stage. And then a "projected" life -size Andy walks around and teaches but it's memorex not reality! I had a friend go there and it took him 15 minutes to figure out that he was looking at a screen and not the real deal. It's a very sophisticated set-up. The video even that-other-forum-that-shall-remain-nameless with the audience.
