one love: I will address just this one item. You said:

Tcog never said you were not going to heaven

That is a downright lie. Because TCOG believes in what M.A. Tomlinsin said about edding rings, "When our members wear rings, they backkslid that much. If people are wearing gold for ornament, 99 times out of 100, you'll find some other sin in their lives".

With your organization believeing that statement, and our organization allowing wedding rings, in essence TCOG is saying that the COGOP will not go to heaven.

Im glad it is assumed again I am in TCOG, thats ok with me. Now I understand what you are implying. If you wear a ring Brother I feel you can be saved just as I. Let me explain it this way.

1. DO you feel wearinga wedding ring is a sin? I assume no and neither does COGOP at this point so why would you go to hell. The context of that statement is if a member (in that time cogop believed just as TCOG) wears rings it is a sign of some spiritual problem. Well I would agree, if you place your hand on the bible to walk in the light to the best of your ability knowing the teachings are a test of membership. You must feel it is wrong therefore if you do it you would have to have something not right.
"to him that knoweth to do good and doeth it not, to him it is sin"
SO it is not an out right lie. Brother Murray felt walking in the light was to follow the assembly. So wearing a ring would be going against that light. The following statement has to be looked at in the fact that when M.A. wrote that it was against the teachings of COGOP so being a covenant member and outright being rebellious would indicate something is not right.
If people come and visit TCOG they do not feel if they have make up and jewelry on that they are not saved. First off makeup is not even a test of membership, so even a member culd not be disciplined. Now if someone walks in that is a homosexual we all would agree he or she is not saved. Rings and jewelry are on a different level.

Back to the point of my post was that I see many COGOP people being very hateful to those in TCOG. I have heard as many rumors and no truths about TCOG as I have heard about COGOP. Guess what folks there are crazy's in both groups. There are good in Both groups.
If you fel it is wrong to try to get people to go to your church if they belong to another church I would disagree. I know many catholics and I will always try to get them in church. Because I feel it is false doctrine. Now if TCOG believes the way they should they should try to get as many in there church as well. You and I know ho much COGOP did this with the "elders" COG through the years. As Did COG do the same to COGOP.
I will stick to my point nobody who claims to be a christian should insult anyone just ot be offensive.
I pray you will all have a very blessed Thanksgiving

Then I stand corrected. I shouldn't have said "never" -- What I should have said was that when he was selected as GO he was directly asked about his beliefs about the exclusivity issue and, from records I have read and the witness of one who participated in that meting, he made it abundantly clear that he did not, at that time, believe in the "One Fold" concept as formerly promoted within COGOP.

I'm sorry but that I assumed. But you said:

Tcog never said you were not going to heaven, to my knowledge they preach salvation just as you do.

So now your saying you don't know what they teach? Cuz apparently you don't and you assumed that they believed similiar to us. They don't!

SO it is not an out right lie.

Yes they did and do! They believe that if you do not follow the 29 prominent techings you will not make heaven your home. And since we have come to a better understanding of the scripture and do not believe in those teachings, they believe we're wrong and that we're not going to heaven.

Stevenson, anyone that is confronted with that usually responds with "We never said you weren't going to heaven...we'll just be the only honored guests at the marriage supper" or some other drivel.

One Love, for not being a member of TCOG you sure are sympathetic toward their viewpoint. I apologize for assuming myself but still by the way you post I could have never told you weren't a member of TCOG.

Did (s)he?

Did (s)he ever say (s)he was not TCOG? All (s)he said was "I was raised in COGOP." That applies to people on Jude2 who are now Baptist, COG, TCOG, AG, independent, etc.

I asked for, and have not yet received, the poster's CURRENT affiliation.

i never understood how wearing jewelry (let alone a wedding ring) could be considered a sin (unto non-salvation). just no scripture for it.

IF I were a betting man, I'd lay money on it that the poster (whose demeanor I admire, btw) is known on UTR as Fred Sanford.

As far as I can determine The Church of God .. TCOG teaches and preaches just like we did prior to 93' when some became "concerned" the COGOP was leaving the original vision of the church. And when they did; those that were concerned seperated from them.

They don't preach/teach that you have to be in the "church" to make it to Heaven.
(And that's how the COGOP has always taught it.)
Only you will be in the "church" when the Rapture takes place.
Saying all Borned again believers will be perfected in one fold. The one fold being the church.
You can't see eye to eye when believing all sorts of doctrines. And thats what church's teach. Many doctrines.

Billy Murray came from H.Q. to speak in a youth Rally here back in the 80's, I believe it was and he kept everyone spell bound with a message that lasted close to an hour, to which it seemed like about 20 minutes.
He preached on, as Gerald said, the one fold.
Great message.
