Ole Miss: It Appears To Be Nutt

Postby pastorables » November 25th, 2007, 7:05 pm

It seems that the #1 candidate on the Ole Miss wish list is Rick Neuheisel. Rick is currently serving with the Baltimore Ravens, but boasts success on the field with Washington and Colorado in the college ranks.

Let the games begin.

Looking at the success he has had in Baltimore, he should be willing to return to the college ranks. He was a very good coach in the college ranks, just got caught betting on an NCAA basketball pool bracket.

He left Colorado in a mess with violations and came to UW. Not sure why we offered him millions, but guess what??? he took my Husky football program to shambles. Left here amid more..... recruiting "issues" and gambling.

He has a great knowledge of the game, played college ball for UCLA I think, but had the morals of a sand dollar. Hope he has changed for your sake, but if not he will take your program on a wild ride.
Let the wild rumpus start!

Hey Bro. Ritchie,

I have not been able to find that anywhere. What source did you get that from? Just curious... You may have inside info that we don't have access. LOL... Thanks..

Tim,

I have membership at both Rivals (Ole Miss) and Scout (Ole Miss). It helps to compile early information, not readily available to all media outlets.

The list is in no particular order with the exception of Neuheisel.

Rick Neuheisel (Baltimore Ravens Associate)
Houston Nutt (Arkansas Head)
Mike Leach (Texas Tech Head)
Dennis Franchione (Texas AM)
Gary Patterson (TCU Head)
Art Briles (Houston Head)
Will Muschamp (Auburn Asst.)
Dan Mullen (Florida Asst.)

Notice the list from Texas. I would assume this is due to transfer QB Jevan Snead and his desire to run the spread offense?! This list isn't comprehensive or necessarily official, but does provide interesting discussion.

I also noticed that Jeff Bowers is out at USM. I'm not sure that he would be a candidate for the job?

Yes, or decides to leave on his own.

Gotcha, thanks for the info... I'm thinking Houston Nutt, Gary Patterson, and Mike Leach would be good.. With some of the negative that has followed Rick, I don't know if I would choose him. But that's up to them. It is indeed going to be very interesting who y'all get as a coach.

Nutt in lead?

Postby pastorables » November 26th, 2007, 2:18 pm

Ole Miss News wrote:We are receiving word from multiple sources - as many as about four who have been very reliable in the past - that Houston Nutt may indeed be in the lead to be the next Ole Miss head coach.

Of course, it's been published by multiple media outlets that there's a press conference in Arkansas later this evening, where it will be announced that Nutt will not return next season.

Rick Neuheisel was apparently the early favorite with Ole Miss; however, word we are receiving is that early negotiations with Rick have not gone as expected, and that Georgia Tech has entered the picture with Neuheisel after it was announced earlier today that Chan Gailey will not return.

Please keep in mind that the search is a fluid situation and things change. We will keep you posted and bring you information that we feel is accurate and credible.

If Nutt is the selection, we are also hearing that the announcement could be made real soon.

If he comes, I will be satisfied that we have hired a proven winner.

Look at this link concerning the Houston Nutt era at UPIG:

The early reports are that Houston Nutt has been hired by Ole Miss.
