Terminate a Fetus - Save the Planet???

Postby MacUser » November 24th, 2007, 3:38 pm

Meet the women who won't have babies - because they're not eco friendly
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/f ... ge_id=1879

Had Toni Vernelli gone ahead with her pregnancy ten years ago, she would know at first hand what it is like to cradle her own baby... But the very thought makes her shudder with horror.

Because when Toni terminated her pregnancy, she did so in the firm belief she was helping to save the planet.

..At the age of 27 this young woman at the height of her reproductive years was sterilised to "protect the planet".

While some might think it strange to celebrate the reversal of nature and denial of motherhood, Toni relishes her decision with an almost religious zeal.

Never forget this and other agendas are really what is at the core of this Global Warming movement. So sad...

not really. people will find any excuse and justification for sin and personal comfort. not to mention the whole "the sky is falling" environment issue, for me, has gone the way of GC's proclaiming false pentecostal preachers, and Michaels's conspiracy theories. :)

Nope

Not surprised and I know it will get much worse.

Outraged, yes, but more focused on reaching the ones I can instead of marching against the ones I can't

She won't be terminating anymore children, so she'll only answer for the one. Hope she gets a lot more pro-abortion types to sterilize themselves. At least they won't be murdering their babies after that...
Why is it that bad decisions seem to make to most interesting testimonies?

Which bit of nonsense were we expected to comment on? ;)
For the truth that lies at the heart of theology is not something there to be discovered, but something, or rather someone, to whom we must surrender. The mystery of faith is not ultimately something that invites our questioning, but something that questions us.

I just wanted to open a dialogue on Christians accepting the "Green" or "Global Warming... Religion" way to easily and what the true agendas are. I understand this is an extreme case.. but don't close your eyes or so easily write it off. Some here probably fully embrace .. "Go Green" because it feels good.. yet unknowingly of all that it stands for, ie - this article.

I want a clean planet also.. but at some point we have to draw the line and say "God made this for us to USE".. not keep completely pristine and untouched. Similar to how God gave different talents - some multiplied it.. and some just buried it and returned it the same.

Everything is finite. Over 95% of all species that have existed are DEAD. Even our vast Milky Way will someday go dark one star at a time.. if God so desires to wait.

Again.. I thought this was worthy of a huge yellow note. It's a HUGE ministry in here. Converting the radical "Green" to Christ.

Then open the dialogue with something other than a fringe nutcase like this woman and I might have more to say.

BTW, I try to have a low impact on the environment, but I haven't stopped using modern appliances :P

You're mistaking diatribe for dialog again. Demonizing every position but your own and portraying others' positions inaccurately (dishonestly?), interpreting them in the worst possible light and assuming the most malevolent intentions, makes dialog impossible.

On the question you pose above, there's just no getting around that our great-grandparents would be shocked and appalled by our wastefulness and thoughtlessness, of our living as though we're not dependent on the land and without obligation to the future. Whatever disagreements we may have with how environmentalists frame the questions we're facing (and you're right that the distinction they insist on between 'the environment' and humans is the biggest problem in their thought), there's no getting around that how we live is wrong on many levels.
For the truth that lies at the heart of theology is not something there to be discovered, but something, or rather someone, to whom we must surrender. The mystery of faith is not ultimately something that invites our questioning, but something that questions us.

How come I can't state an opinion and want a discussion? Prove me wrong that this woman whom has embraced the Green movement completely/fully deviates from the ultimate Green IDEAL. You can't because - she IS living the ultimate green ideal. A prophet for the cause. I think this is far more than a simple disagreement based on how environmentalists frame it.

She's basically being a good citizen of the earth according to her faith.
Show me how embracing this doesn't conflict with our Christian faith?

On shocking our ancestors question.. You continue to frame things based on an ideal. I frame them based on where we have come from. Based on that we are doing incredible.. Today is better than Yesterday. Less sickness, more food, living longer.. amazing. Do we need to continue to refine things and do them better? Invent new solutions? Absolutely. But still fantastic!!

I believe that Everyone wants a Green world for our children (backyard) and basically desires this on a fundamental level (unless proven otherwise) and desires to know correct/realistic methods of recycling, producing energy, being responsible etc. But the modern Green movement's agenda isn't simply doing this. I know we can agree on that.

This is why I say that a great ministry is poised for some Man or Woman of God to convert the radical "Green" to Christ.

God Bless.
