Taxes, Higher, lower or new plan

Postby one love » November 26th, 2007, 4:06 pm

I have to ask since I see political discussion here. Would you

1. raise taxes

2. Lower taxes more

3. try a new plan

Me personally I feel it is neccesary for us to lower taxes again for the sake of the economy. Yet I would much rather see hr25 pass the fair tax plan. www.fairtax.org
No income tax at all just raise the sale tax to 21 percent. As a buinsess owner it would be a dream. What say you

Here is a novel plan.

Flat tax rate for everybody, no loop holes, no exceptions, private individual, business, whoever or whatever! Say 15%, then if more money is needed, use "user taxes" if you use a service you pay a tax for that service.

Fair Tax!

Postby Steve » November 26th, 2007, 5:32 pm

The Fair Tax is the way to go. If you haven't read the book, check it out. Also many questions can be answered at the Fair Tax Website.
The Bible calls children a blessing and debt a curse, but in our culture we apply for curses and reject blessings.

The problem that I see with the Fair Tax Plan is that it is progressive. I don't like loop holes and the plan starts out with a big loop hole. While it is a noble sounding idea to not tax the poor, someone is going to have to make up that lost revenue. Guess who that someone is! That's right, the rest of us. We will be penalized for working to better ourselves in having to shoulder the higher taxes than a flat rate would call for. Under a flat rate plan all income taxes would be eliminated, federal and state. This country can be run on 15% of the Gross National Product. Let the states collect the taxes then send the federal government their share. I have no problem with paying my share of the taxes, I just want everybody else to pay their share. A progressive tax system will always discourage people from trying to better themselves, why should they when any gains they make will be eaten up in a higher tax bracket.

This is not aplan to save the poor from paying taxes. It rewards those who try harder and make more money. If you make 100 billion you stil pay on what you buy 21 percent. Not 70 percent out of each check. That is anti capitalist and socailist. Tax the rich to be poor.
what lost revenue? they will have way more revenue. New jobs. Cost of products wil go down. To those who ARE poor will recieve a check to pay for the extra percents. This would also save social security. This way everyone pays taxes. We could end our deficit much quicker. Unemployment would drop so fast becasue I could hire at least 5 more people to my company alone. I only have 14 employees. But not having to match there taxes and then pay quartely man it would flourish. Imagine how much the factories that make everthing we use would save and what that does for product cost. What it does for salaries.... I think it is the best plan there is. IRS needs to go. Or we could change our name back to ENgland

The current threat of a higher tax bracket never made me turn down a raise.

The fair tax is growing on me, but I have several questions...for example, what happens to new car manufacturing if they are taxed but used cars aren't? Insert any new v. used product.
