You do not know how glad it makes me to see you say that.

paul wrote:Does that mean if someone gives a word and it does not come to pass He/She is a false prophet ? This to me gets stickiey. Someone who prophecises a knowing false lie, deliberately, for self gain. Or someone who misses it and gets in the flesh but meant well, more room for debate.

I can see your point. I was once prophesied (falsely) over by an overenthusiastic man. I hold nothing against him because he thought he was doing right.
Quite unlike a minister who says "I don't need gold in heaven I got to have it NOW!!!"

No, I am not intimidated in the least by them.

KBevangelist wrote:Is it possible that we enjoy when these ministries fell because we feel slighted by them or God who does these supernatural things?

I can't speak for anyone else, but I don't enjoy seeing any ministry fail. It's just one more black mark on God's public record.

KBevangelist wrote:or Do we have a legit reason to knock them down, instead of praying and lifting them up?

I don't know that I have read any untoward "knocking down" of a serious prophetic ministry here. I have seen several charlatans taken to task, perhaps with a little more glee that should have been present, but they kinda brought it on themselves...

KBevangelist wrote: Jonah spoke a word of prophecy to Ninevah, that it would be destroyed. HOwever, they heard the word, repented and God repented (Jonah 3:10)of his wrath and did not destroy them. Does this make Jonah a false prophet? What he spoke did not come pass because the people turned back to God.

Well, the word Jonah spoke was repent or die. They repented. No contradiction there.

KBevangelist wrote:Robertson spoke a prophecy it didnt happen to the full extent of what he said. Could it be that their were intercessors praying that kept it from happening?

Who knows but God? But you have to ask, did his prophecy specify that if there was intercession or repentance that God would hold back His wrath?

Frankly, prophecy has been devalued by the folks who get away with spouting the imaginings of their minds and calling it prophecy. Nowadays, you can't count on a prophet to tell you what God is saying with any real accuracy, and most people don't. If you can't count on what a prophet says to come true the way he said it would, what use is a prophet?

Maybe yes/maybe no is not the scriptural standard for OT prophetic reliability. And, I've never found a verse in the New Testament that said the standard changed, or that a prophet should be allowed to speak amiss a lot before you stop listening to him. But I am willing to learn. Show me how & why the standard for NT prophets is different from the OT guys. I would really like to know.
Why is it that bad decisions seem to make to most interesting testimonies?
