That Was So Cool!!!

Postby Mountie12 » November 29th, 2007, 3:33 pm

Ever had those moments in sports that make you go WOW! May not be special to anyone else, but it was a great personal moment to you.

I was in WV a few years ago for Thanksgiving. The Backyard Brawl was on TV that Friday afternoon. Played in Pittsburgh. Pitt was heavily favored (had Tyler Palko and Larry Fitzgerald). Weather conditions were snowy and bad. WVU went up there and literally punched them in the mouth. Quincy Wilson had a great game which turned out to be a statement game for RRod's program. One of the best games ever in the storied history of the Backyard Brawl.

We had tickets for the WVU b'ball game that night in Mo'town. I was setting in the coliseum with my mother and daughter waiting for the tip-off. The game starting time was held up and everyone in the stands was trying to figure out why. All of the sudden the band breaks out playing the WV Fight Song and the entire Football team came strolling onto the court. They had rushed 90 miles back from Pitt. to support the B'ball team and greet the crowd after a monumental victory.

The place errupted in a 15 minute standing ovation. Tears started welling up in my eyes and chills started running up and down my spine.

As I said, it my not mean much to others, but it was one of those moments that made me say, "That was so cool!!"

I would have loved to have been there, I would have enjoyed that too. I wish I was going to be in Mo'town this Saturday Night.
If I were to read, much less answer, all the attacks made on me, this shop might as well be closed for business. I do the very best I know how, the very best I can, and I mean to keep doing so until the end. If the end brings me out right, what is said against me won't amount to anything. If the end brings me out wrong, ten angels swearing I was right will make no difference." -Abraham Lincoln
