Recipes

Postby cndlou » December 10th, 2007, 4:57 pm

Now that I have found this recipe...I am not sure this is what you were talking about... but I will go ahead and give it to you just in case it is.... And I am adding another Corn Flake recipe that my mom made for us...I seem to remember some sort of major battle so they must have been good.... :D

Corn Flake Candy

1 cup sugar
1 cup white Karo
1 cup peanut butter
6 cups corn flakes

Stir in sugar and syrup in a large saucepan, over medium heat, until it starts to boil. Remove from heat; add peanut butter and stir until smooth. Add corn flakes and stir until well coated. Pour onto buttered dish. Let cool and cut into squares. (This may also be rolled into balls.)

Cherry Winks (I will call it battle food)

2 2/3 cups Corn Flakes
2 1/4 cups regular all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup regular margarine or butter, softened
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla flavoring
1 cup chopped nuts
1 cup finely cut pitted dates
1/2 cup finely chopped maraschino cherries
15 marashino cherries, cut into quarters

1. Measure Corn Flakes and crush to 1 1/3 cups. Set aside.
2. Stir together flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside.
3. In large mixing bowl, beat margarine and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs. Beat well. Stir in milk and vanilla. Add flour mixture. Mix until well combined. Stir in nuts, dates and chopped cherries.
4. Portion dough using level measuring-tablespoon. Shape into balls. Roll in crushed Corn Flakes. Place about 2 inches apart on greased baking sheets. Top each with cherry quarter.
5. Bake in oven at 375 F about 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove immediately from baking sheets. Cool on wire racks.
6. Make spouse clean up the kitchen....

Yield: about 5 dozen

Hum! Guess that is why I only remember her doing these one time...all this time I thought she was keeping us from killing each other... She probably just thought it wasn't worth the effort..... :D

Growing up, mine was the Divinity & Fudge my mom used to make.

Now, it is neither candy nor cookie. It is the Southern Comfort cake. mmmmmm

I need a good Sugared Pecans recipe.. an easy one. I have made them before, but it's been awhile.

And I'm going to try some kind of coated or spiced almonds this year. Let me know if anyone knows of a good one!

(Gotta love those nut candies- and chocolate covered dried fruits, awesome..:))
..I press on to take hold of that
for which Christ took hold of me.
