How Cash-less are you?

Postby Gerald Creasy » December 16th, 2007, 2:41 am

How often do you carry cash?

I find...more and more...that I rarely have cash or coin. EVERYTHING is transacted with either check or Master Card Debit.

The only time I have cash is when I have what hair is left on my haid cut and I have to go and make a withdrawal to pay my barber OR when I visit a restaurant that does not take The Card.

How cashless are you?

i hardly ever carry cash...

And, the other day, a friend of mine invited me to go to waffle house with him and a few other people and I went. I wasn't hungry so I just got a coke and my bill was only $1.55, but all the sudden, i remembered that waffle house only takes cash and I didn't have any cash!!!! Thankfully I was able to borrow a couple of dollars from my friend and no harm was done, but man, that could have been really embarrassing! I am so glad I didn't order any food!

I'm pretty much the same Gerald. But I do try to have a few dollars just in case we need to leave a tip (like at the Cracker Barrel). I know that you can leave a tip at the register, but it seems better to give the girl/guy cash on the spot, and perhaps encourage others around me that they should consider this is a form of their pay and to leave behind some support. Lots of cheap people out there - especially large church groups. Leaves a bad taste in the mouth of those watching to see how we act.
I have seen it when the McDonalds register didn't work and they posted a sign "No credit cards today" and the lines were noticeably shorter.
I'd like to hear your thoughts on this playing out into the hand/head marking of the beast as most of us have interpreted over the years. In your studies, is that where you see us going as a global society? Seems kind of evident in the United States doesn't it?

I'm afraid I can not comment on those issues because I no longer hold to any of the Futurist (pretrib, posttrib, amillenial etc) interpretations of MOST (but not all) of Revelations.

Fair enough, the most important thing that we agree on anyway is the one way to salvation. (Faith in Jesus Christ as our sacrifice)

That being set aside as our sure foundation - you got me thinking the other day on this topic as it relates to the supposed temple rebuilding. Perhaps we've had it wrong all along?
Not that it's all that big a deal in my faith, but you did challenge me to back away and leave that thought open for further study.

One of the hardest things is to examine a Biblical passage free of presuppositions.

I remember watching that TBN movie The Omega Code just a short while ago and saying, "Well, That's basicly how it will be."

Until someone pointed out to me in regards to the beasts fatal wound: That was just ONE of the beast's SEVEN heads.

How does one conclude that the Beast will suffer a fatal wound, die, and raise himself from the dead when only ONE of it's heads was wounded?

Based on ONE mention of something that happens to a symbolic creature FUTURISTs surrender the Miracle of the Ressurrection to Satan.

I'm not comfortable with that. I don't believe it.

Another subject is The Tribulation.

How does one believe Christians will escape Tribulation when early Christians were fed to lions, doused with oil and used to illuminate Ceasars gardens, or bound to stakes while Ceaser, dressed in animal skins, attacked their sexual organs? That wasnt the Great Tribulation? That was the Somewhat Lesser Not-even-noteworthy Tribulation? The GREAT tribulation will be WORSE than that!?

I didnt mean to get into this by asking the original question, really.

Got a little side tracked didn't I? Sorry about that, but I've been wanting to talk a little more with you on it.
Anyway, ...it's a 'comfortable' theology, to see us 'caught up in the air' before a great tribulation, but I agree with you, there are definately holes in it.
We just can't be sure any more than most Jews did not see Jesus as their Messiah in His day. They saw the promised one in their own minds differently then it was unfolding, so when it happened, they didn't realize it was taking place the whole time.
Just as the second coming has more to it then we see at this time - I'm sure of that.
So while we can all agree that Israel's return to the promised land has something to do with the end times prophecy, and it's just no coincidence all those countries around them hate them and will come at them at some point in the near future , ...
(point) We can not say that we (Christians) won't be here with certain assurance in a tribulation or that the temple will be built as part of fact.
Does the final abomination of desolation have to be served up in the temple made with hands? ... and is the current use of the Euro or plastic money in the world an issue? I don't know, but it sure is an interesting consideration when one thinks no one ever saw this 100 years ago and how dependent we are on a piece of plastic with a small strip of identification, drawing money from an account somewhere.

The same thing happened to us recently at the Huddle House. Thankfully, they broke protocol and accepted a personal check due to the fact that we are somewhat regular customers. :D

I next to never carry cash. I wish I did sometimes it would make it easier, I cant stand looking at my check book and seeing
debit $1.10 for a drink 50 times.

I do on the other hand think this will play into the end times. I feel we will get to the point where we will not have cash at all. We are heading that way and many would except it under security. If they had a way to place a chip in your hand that held all your info and said you could not lose you ideninity, then you would not be robbed for cash and if you are kidnapped we can find you right away. People would do it so fast. I feel it could be the hand or forehead reference. We know the BIble says you cant buy or seel without his mark. Just a thought I have pondered for a while.

Gerald I have tried to understand what it is your ae saying. I get the jist of it but are you saying you do not believe in end time things at all. No mark of the beast or anything that it already happened?

almost never carry cash. Well, I usually have a few dollars, but otherwise almost never. and the only "Biblical" correlation I see is from others preconceived, non-Biblically based ideas and movies of a "cashless society" and beast-marking. :) Merry Xmass!!

I'm not the norm. I use the card for almost everything but I also always keep at least $20 on me at all times for "just in case". My wife on the other hand never carries cash.

We do the same thing: check book or debit card. seldom do we do business with cash. Interesting that we are all becoming aware of this now. Wonder if it is anything we need to take note of.

cash...

Postby darylscook » December 16th, 2007, 4:04 pm

Well, I guess we are quite different. When I get paid I know how much we have budgeted for groceries, gas, eating out, blow money, and I keep that out in cash for the 1/2 month. Then as the 2+ weeks go, we use the cash. Luckily, we haven't found anywhere that doesn't take cash :)

Gerald asked?

One of the reasons why so many believe that Christians will escape tribulation is because they think that tribulation and wrath are the same.

When you place tribulation and wrath into their proper context, there is no foundation for a pretrib rapture.

Through much tribulation we enter the Kingdom, we escape and are not appointed to wrath.
