Ima Jewel Woodruff Receives her reward...

Postby jinjer » December 25th, 2007, 5:18 pm

Sis. Ima Jewel Woodruff went to be with the Lord this afternoon around 3:15PM (EST), after a battle with bone cancer. She was the widow of Byron Woodruff, together they pastored the Larkwood Church of God of Prophecy for some 22 years. They served in many capacities in the state of Kentucky.

Sister Woodruff was my Pastors Wife for a number of years. I had heard she was bad.

I saw her last year for the first time in about 15 years. She instantly recognized me.

When I was younger, I didn't really know her or Bro Woodruff, I knew of them but was not close to them. When they bagan to pastor the Highland Park Church I really got to know them both fairly well. I was surprised at how much they knew about me. Then I realized that they were that way with everyone. They told me so many stories about the Woodruffs and my grandparents.

Well Since Bro Woodruff passed It seems that I spoke with Sis Woodruff alot more and she was an amazing woman. My Grandmother is in good physical health but not mental. Sis Woodruff told me that she was happy that her mind was still there because that would be the hardest part not knowning all the people that she loved (and that loved her).

Many of the older people go to a local steak house to eat the buffet on a regular basis, I would stop by to see my grandmother and end up talking to her. No matter how she felt she was more concerned about you. I will never forget one of the last things she said to me. I had something on my mind and heart. Out of the blue she called me and asked me how was everything, My reply was fine. She said told me that God is in control even when we don't see it. and the everything will work out in the end. if it isn't worked out it isn't the end.

Heaven is a lot brighter.... She will be greatly missed.

Brother and Sister Woodruff were very special to me. When I came to KY 22 + years ago, they welcomed me with open arms, and told me they were one of the reasons I was here. When I questioned them about that and the meaning of that statement. Bro. & Sis. Woodruff got my mom and dad together and Brother Woodruff married them. When dad passed away in Sept., I was going through some things and found their marriage license and sure enough Brother Woodruff's name was there.

I will miss Sister Woodruff she was a Proverbs 31 lady!
If I were to read, much less answer, all the attacks made on me, this shop might as well be closed for business. I do the very best I know how, the very best I can, and I mean to keep doing so until the end. If the end brings me out right, what is said against me won't amount to anything. If the end brings me out wrong, ten angels swearing I was right will make no difference." -Abraham Lincoln

I remember her vividly, and loved her and Brother A. B. (as we knew him) so much. They had us (Soulsearchers) at Larkwood for two revivals, and, besides the outstanding services and move of God's spirit, I never laughed so much in my life! Humor was one of the Woodruff's greatest ministry tools. :) I can imagine them rejoicing and laughing together right now.

Ima Jewell Woodruff recieves her reward

Postby Dr. Ron » December 26th, 2007, 7:35 am

She was as her name implies: I'm a Jewel !!! lol

No two people were better to me than those two. They had me(us) for many revivals over the years. Bro. A. B. was a "risk taker" ...in that he would always give a new preacher a chance to prove himself. Of course, sister Ima Jewel, would mother all of us and help us get over ourselves...lol

Loved them dearly!

She will be missed ....but great is her reward....they are together again for eternity!

Ima Jewel Woodruff

Postby Ruth » December 26th, 2007, 10:51 am

Ima Jewel and AB Woodruff was my Pastor at 21st Main and at
Larkwood. I was very very young Bro. Woodruff use to come over
to our house to watch the boxing matches on TV. Since pastor could
not have TV. When he was in the Navy he use to be a boxer.
It was their life that lead me to the Lord. They walk and talk what
they believe in. And no matter who you are when you where with
them their full attention was on you. I thank God for Teachers and
Ministers like them that you could trust completely. I was the only one
going to church in my family but my entire family love them. They
taught us the word. And she was so wonderful. And could she sing.
She was my mentor. As a Pastor wife I wanted to be like her. She
was one of a kind. Heaven has receive and angel.

I started this post with just the facts. So, here I would like to share my love and relationship with Sis. Woodruff. Bro. & Sis. Woodruff were my mother's pastor at 32nd & Larkwood, before she married my father. My dad was an unsaved Catholic when my mom married him. Bro. & Sis. Woodruff loved my dad and mentored him and 4 months after my parents were married, my father was saved in a revival. Just like several here, Bro. Woodruff married my parents. The Woodruff's mentored and discipled my father, who was a great godly man. The Woodruff's would visit our home many times and we were in there home. Even when we started attending the 21st and Main COGOP they remained a pastor and friend. The Woodruff's were also great friends with my grandparents. I have never known my life without the Woodruff's. I loved both of them very much. Sis. Woodruff was great classy lady. Little did I know when I was young, that my husband and I would walk the same road as they in childlessness. They were a great comfort to me during those times. I know that she and my Mom and my Grandmother are singing praises together today. She will be missed.
