Assasination in Pakistan

Postby Full Quiver » December 27th, 2007, 12:01 pm

Former Prime Minister Bhutto was killed in a suicide attack. Pakistan is joke of a democracy and ally.

The National Overseer of Pakistan is a colleague of mine, and a fine man. I won't post his name here for reasons of security (though it is easily obtained) but we need to pray for the safety of his family and our people there.
"God is excited to show you mercy. He rises to give you His compassion." (Isaiah 30:18)

"For surely, O LORD, you bless the righteous;
you surround them with your favor as with a shield." (Psalm 5:12)

Really? i must be either clairvoyant or extremely pessimistic.

I thought she was living on borrowed time the moment she emerged from exile.

can't say. I guess, I tend to believe that the glass is either not engineered for the correct amount of water, or it is half full, waiting for further re-fill. :)

Exactly my sentiment. What happened today was terrible, but after those suicide bombings at her rally in Karachi a few weeks back one got the terrible idea something like this was bound to happen.

I think it was a member of Musharraf's army that killed her. He did it with a handgun and shot her once in the neck and chest. That's your most important artery in your body, and the heart area. The guy shot her at point blank range and knew exactly what he was shooting for. Like FQ said Pakistan is a joke.

No doubt she was on borrowed time and must have loved her country and thought that she had a chance to make a change. Musharraf came into power via a coup, is no fan of democracy if you ask me, and will cause us serious trouble in Afghanistan and probably globally in the future. Odds are we will be overthrowing his regime in about 10 years. It's so hypocritical that we even speak to him because he is no different than any other dictator in this world. Yes he has nukes but so did the Soviets. Flex our muscles and he will cave.

PG, that Overseer is indeed a fine man, and literally gave me the shirt off his back one year at the Assembly - in fact he insisted I accept an entire Pakistan outfit that I had admired him wearing. My thoughts and prayers are with him, too.

Musharraf is actually a very weak leader outside of major cities. His alliance with the US has helped him maintain power. He receives hundreds of millions of dollars a month from the US. I don't think Musharraf is going to be any major problem for the US in the future. The US basically controls him with all the money we send to Pakistan.

What would be a major problem for the US is if a radical Muslim comes to power. I think here we are choosing between the lesser of two evils.

Our director in pakistan has requested much prayer during this difficult time. He also as indicated that Musharraf has been a great help to the Christians in Pakistan.

I am amazed at FQ and your apparent knowledge (or lack of) concerning the internal working of Pakistan.

It is public record that Butto was threatened by Al-Quida and the Taliban for her pro american attitude and stance against Terriosm. And had been publicly threatened by them if she returned to Pakistan.

FQ, why not talk first hand with Pakistani's who live through all the grief, pain and violence, instead of drawing all your conclusions from liberal, anti democracy, infidel news media.

I communiacte weakly with our director in pakistan.

here we go

Postby Full Quiver » December 28th, 2007, 10:19 am

Excuse me Paul, how do you know where I get my news. If Bhutto was so wonderful and the people wanted her, which I believe they did but of course that is what the liberal news companies have reported, then why did "our friend Musharaf" keep her bound up? Why has he twice suspended the nation's constitution if he is our ally in democracy and against terror? Bush warned him not to do what he has done but he did anyhow. It's fairly obvious that he wants to continue in power and will do so at the expense of any so called democracy that Pakistan has. Just because you have been oversees does not make you an expert on all that goes on oversees. Now allow me to clarify, I am no expert either but I do have an opinion and I think it is quite obvious that we are dealing with, cooperating with, a man that will turn out to be a full fledged enemy of the USA. We dealt with Saddam and then had to deal with Saddam. We dealt with Ben Laden and now are having to deal with Ben Laden. The lesser of two evils argument is wearing thin.
Might I remind you that Christians are probably better off without the friendships or so called friendships of dictators and governments in general. Constantine comes to mind right off the bat. I'm sure persecution stinks and I am glad I have not had to face any but it comes with the territory when you live amongst a nation of heathens.

For FQ and Paul:

http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D8TQKI3O0&show_article=1

It was a story CNN's Wolf Blitzer hoped he'd never have to report—an e-mail sent to him through an intermediary by Pakistani opposition leader Benazir Bhutto complaining about her security. Conditions of use: only if she were killed.
Bhutto, who was assassinated on Thursday, wrote to Blitzer that if anything happened to her, "I would hold (Pakistani President Pervez) Musharraf responsible."

Gerald, I understand the report. Again, one must be careful to understand what she was truly saying. Is she saying Musharraff pulled the trigger, or that he had set the stage because of suspending the constitution. Is he responsible ? probably, because he allowed the country to get to the place it has. Not doing enough for the country, looking out for His own agenda. Maybe, because he allowed her to return the pakistan thus setting the event in motion.

I do not doubt at all that in her mind if anything happened to her that she would feel He was behind it. But that does not automatically make it so.

Having worked in so many different countries and nations. The polticts in most cases are beyond our thinking, reasoning and logic. That is why I never, never discuss it when in the countries nor with the ministers.

The comment I made was in refference to an Email I received a few weeks ago from our director, in which he stated that the Taliban and Al-quida was working to undermind Musharraff because of his hard line against Terrisom. And that he was getting hard on religious persecution of the Christian minority. Our Director works in areas on the boarder of Pakistan, Afganastan and Iraq.

I am very concerned about the situation...WMOF has 114 churches a bible College and about 10,000 members in Pakistan.
