I have stated many times what I believe. Yes I sin but not every day, I don't have to sin, but occasionally I do whether it be commission or omission. in that I am very different than the OSAS peeps. I don't have to; no one is twisting my arm. I do not consider myself perfect though I am striving for spiritual maturity and not acting like it is not possible because I have to sin everyday. if I sin I have an advocate with the Father and it is my duty as a Christian to repent and that means don't do it again. Have I done it again? Sure I have and thank God Jesus showed that He was/is willing to forgive 7 times 70 if I trespass. Now we have covered me but I'm not running for president. Let's get back to Mike and the fact that he believes in OSAS.

I don't care what Huckabee believes about salvation, eternal security, or any of that, as far as him being President goes. What I am concerned about and care about is how eager he is to grow government, tax and spend, protect (or not) our borders. Well, his record speaks for itself. He gets an F on every issue there. He can promise to try and be a "compassionate conservative" all day long, and that's great since he'd be spending other people's money, which he obviously has no problem with. But, when you're spending my money, telling me that you need it more than I do or that someone else deserves even 1 cent of my money more than I do, then I say you're minding my business when you need to be minding your own. It's not your place as President or any other official to tell me what I need. That's marxist. Not saying Huckabee is a Marxist, but I am saying that he's a tax and spend liberal who does a very clever job of diverting attention from his record with lots of Jesus talk and jargon that makes evangelicals comfortable. Truthfully, there's not a single candidate in either party who is capable and credible on limited government, lower taxing and lower spending. But, if I had to pick the least of the evils available today, I think I'd vote for Romney, maybe Giuliani, remotely third would be Fred Thompson, then I'd stay home because I wouldn't waste my time on voting for any other Republican in the race as they wouldn't be any different from any Democrat in the race. I'm not even sure Fred Thompson would be different enough, but I'd at least GO and vote for him even if not enthusiastically. I'd give him that much benefit of the doubt. Notice: None of these guys talks a lot about Jesus, and none of them are truly qualified to lead us to greatness as a nation. So, what difference --- presidentially speaking --- does it make what any of them believe about Jesus??

I believe that a Christian can never lose his salvation. I think it would be good to have a President who believe this true, biblical doctrine. :)

Ditto. and FQ, we will have to agree to disagree on what "they" believe - we apparently have differing subjective experiences on that topic.

as to that point - I am not sure, but I don't think he will be preaching that you have to sin as president. :)

What does this have to do with him being a good president or not?

It doesn't Pastor Rob but if he is going to wear his faith on his sleeve and try and sell that to Christians for their vote then Christians have every right to examine his faith and knit pick it. There are plenty of folks that could run for president and might be good ones but if they said they were Christians then we would call their bluff.
Mike said he had a degree in theology. No he does not. He outright lied. He knew he didn't have such a degree, he didn't forget, it could not have been a mistake, but it was a calculated move/comment to buy some votes. However the truth came out and he is a liar. Of course as OSAS that doesn't matter now does it. Clinton was dissed as a liar and Hillary still is but I am amazed that the same crowd of Christians turns the other cheek now because they have been hypnotized by Huckabee in a few debates.

I believe in the perseverance of the saints, and I do not believe that it is ever okay to lie, or to sin.

Come come, FQ, please give some evidence for this!

I could say that Fred Thompson likes to get drunk and run naked throught the streets except for his spiked heels, but it means NOTHING without evidence!

I have seen statements like these bantered about, and NOBODY is showing where they got the information! I hope all this is not coming from voteforfredcausemikeisaliar.com or some such thing!

If you want to slam Mike, GREAT, just at least be willing to BACK IT UP!

In all fairness to FQ and the OSAS concern, many, many, many modern OSASers are essentially antinomian with respect to a licentious and permissive acceptance of sin.

I realize, that the intent of the doctrine was never such in reformed and/or Calvinistic circles early on. But in the modern American church, and I can attest personally to it being preached, taught,m and embraced in the heart of Alabama that way, the gospel and Christian life has been reduced to "repeat this prayer, call on Jesus, sign this card" your saved now doesn't matter what you've done or even what you do from here on out -- you now have a get out of hell free card." Usually the person is baptized, added to the church roll, and may or may not regularly attend and participate in the life of the church, and more often than not probably were not truly converted. They are false converts. Though I differ and am Arminian in my views, on this point a true, grounded, and more aligned OSASer would agree. To them, a person who continues in the practice of sin, exhibiting no change in heart or life and no growing in grace and desiring holiness, was never really saved to begin with.

Personally, I don't know what views Huckabee holds in this regard. Like Steve, I find it refreshing he is not afraid to talk about his faith. After all, only the Christian faith can actually change the world. And lile Paul, I would much rather have a person who is a Christian and lives their faith out in the office than one who is (or claims) to be a Christian and holds views, lives, acts, supports, and works for things antithetical to the teaching of Scripture (i.e. Hillary Clinton)

I am about 90% convinced it is to late for America. She is gone. What is left is a pagan pluralistic shell that carries the name and the legacy. The church, and not "democracy" or "America", is the only hope of the world as Christ is seen in and through it.

You have actually heard a Baptist Preacher or Pastor tell his congregation that they can live anyway they want sin all they want and still have a "Get out of hell free card." ?

No wonder so many are leaving the pentecostal churches in America and attending Baptist and other non-penetcostal churches.. Our attitude and judgemental spirit still prevails.

Our attitude of self-righteousness still prevails also.

Paul, I respect your desire to be hopeful for America's future. I'm hopeful for the future of our people, but not for our nation as the USA. I am afraid I have to agree with Poimen, and say practically the same thing to others frequently. Not that our character is dead, but it is no longer relevant and no one is teaching or leading us in the qualities of character and personality and habit that belonged to our founders and forebears and which made us the freedom-loving republic we were.

Mike Huckabee wrote:"I think I'm stronger than most people because I truly understand the nature of the war that we are in with Islamo fascism," Huckabee told the Christian Broadcasting Network. "These are people that want to kill us. It's a theocratic war. And I don't know if anybody fully understands that. I'm the only guy on that stage with a theology degree. I think I understand it really well."

~speaking about the recent debate he was in

World Net Daily

Mike Huckabee wrote:"I have a bachelor of arts in religion and a minor in communications in my undergraduate work. And then I have 46 hours on a master's degree at Southwestern Theology Seminary. So, my degree as a theological degree is at the college level and then 46 hours toward a masters -- three years of study of New Testament Greek, and then the rest of it, all in Seminary was theological studies, but my degree was actually in religion."
~his reply

I could go on Steve but all you have to do is Google it. If you have missed this then where have you been? You seem to keep up with everything Huckabee but missed his false claim to a master's in theology. I could care less whether he has one or not but his character showed when he was willing to stretch the truth about it.

I don't keep up with very much politics, but based on this quote, I do not see that he is claiming to have a master's degree in theology.

He says he has some hours "towards" a master's degree, but his undergraduate degree is in Religion.

Where is the lie? I don't see it.

Tracy,
I believe that FQ's problem is that the degree that Huckabee holds does not include the word "Theology." Therefore it can't be a "Theological" degree, the same as a person that has a Doctorate of Divinity lacks a "Theological" degree.
