We are having a pizza party at church. Volleyball, basketball and a room full of boardgames. Then a prayer service at 11. It will be fun.

We will have a quiet night, at home, alone. We usually go somewhere, but this year things have been so hectic and we are gearing up for REUNION this Sunday, that we opted to just be home with the dog and the cat.

you surround them with your favor as with a shield." (Psalm 5:12)

We are staying in with my son and his fiance. I've made a large pot of chili, we are going to play Texas Hold'em, and then toast the New Year in together! We don't like going out on New Years Eve....it's so much more fun being home with those you love!

(Our daughter is in Atlanta spending the week with her friends, but I made her promise to stay in tonight too!! )

Staying home with my sister, avoiding all the amateur drunks! I also do not do well around fireworks.

Well, in just over 45 minutes, I'll be over at the local ham radio club for our New Years Eve party...

It's all I can do after missing the Christmas dinner back at the beginning of the month. :)

Every year we host a new year's party at our home...Each year we invite about 50 people to our home for food, fun, games (pool, galaga, pac man, super pac man, wrestlemania)...It's always fun! This is our third year so we should have everyone covered in another 3 or 4 years.

I'm happy to say I'm staying in where its safe tonight. The streets are going to be awfull out there.
We're expecting 6-8 inches of snow.

The good news about that, is..in a week it all will be gone. Temps will go up to 45 this time next week. 8)

Crazy weather!

Staying home with my wife and children. We moved way out in the country, back off the main highway this year. It's about 9:45pm and we have already built a fire and roasted hot dogs. We also enjoyed a few fireworks. We will continue to kill time until 12:00 when we will light a few more fireworks and toast the new year with sparkling grape juice.

In my younger days, I was usually playing a music gig somewhere on New Years Eve. The last few years it has been great just being alone with my family looking up at the stars as a new year begins.

My girlfriend and I had friends in the same subdivision having New Year's parties so we split our time between the two. One was smaller and intimate with awesome finger foods and dips and the other was large with games, nerts and chili. A good time was had by all.

But a good time was had by all...............

Seriously, we had dinner with some close friends and then went on a little trip.......got home about 5 in the am and slept all day!!!!! Wahoooooooo!!!

We did not encounter and drunks, cops, roadblocks, or crazies. It was amazingly quiet and peaceful....did not hear one firecracker.
We had a good time with noise makers and funny hats and the like....had a little sparkly!!!! (grape juice)

Enjoyed being with all the family yesterday...celebrated my son't birthday....

We had a great New Year's Eve too with the kids..

I made a cheese ball, veggie tray etc.. and we played Cranium WOW, which is a great game if you like to be a ham, which we do :) The highlight of that was my son acting like Napoleon Dynamite.. Then, we watched "A Thief in the Night" end times movie.. went outside at midnight in the below freezing weather and lit off a few fireworks, then came inside to watch "The Moment After" which is another great end times movie..

We also took turns reflecting, making resolutions and praying over them before we ate.. that was really nice. I believe God will help us with those.

I spent New Years Day evening in the ER with my son who split his cheek open spinning (standing up) on a "Sit and Spin".. Four hours and a lot of snow later we came home at 11:30... to a house full of kids and their friends who were all still awake. :? :) All Sam's fault. :)
..I press on to take hold of that
for which Christ took hold of me.

We had a beautiful one hour (6-7pm) candlelight prayer vigil, praying 12 points of the Lord's prayer, guided by a multimedia of graphics and all-original music. This was the brainchild of my sister, Janis, and we didn't know how many people would participate, but the church was almost packed (I'd say about 1,100 people). Each family who entered came forward and lit a candle, representing the light of God to be upon their family in the new year. At the conclusion, we played a song of celebration, "The Year of The Lord (written by my nephew)," as everyone exited, free to go be with family and friends.
