New Toy . . .

Postby TW » January 2nd, 2008, 8:19 am

For several months now my sister has been talking about getting a new digital camera to replace her old one (2.0 mega pixels). So the other day, while we were out getting her a new scanner for her computer, we found a really good deal on this little number.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ7

She bought one and I was impressed enough with the camera that I bought one to use as a "carry around" camera. It's small enough to be easy to carry around, but big enough to take some serious pictures. Seven point two mega pixels with a 6X optical zoom. A really good "point and shoot" camera.

You will love it!

I went Lumix last year and it is great.

I also got my daughter one like that one and she loves it.

I traded my HP in on a Lumix 12x. I love it.
What we need here is a good revival! lol

scooter,
I have had my Lumix FZ30 for almost 2 years now, and it is great. The only problem with it is that it is just to big to carry around all the time. Now I have a smaller Lumix camera that I can carry around with me all the time.

I am still carrying a 35mm and I know I need to get with the program. How much do these run?

Response: You can get a regular digital camera for a little of nothing.

These are in the $200.00 to $300.00 range, I think.

There are many great starter models under $200.00.

The LZ7 "list" for $199.99, however nobody actually pays that for one. We got ours at Office Depot where they were "listed" at $179, for $161 on sale.

When selecting a digital camera, the important things to consider are mega pixels (I wouldn't get less than 6.0, but that's a personal choice), and optical zoom ( the greater the optical zoom the better). Of course there are other factors that will help narrow the selection such as battery type, recovery speed, etc. I like the Lumix cameras because of the "image stabilization." I shoot a lot of low light pictures without flash, so the shutter stays open for longer periods of time, and movement can ruin the picture. The thing is find a camera that you can work with that fits your needs and requirements.

So find a camera that you like and shop around for the best deal.
