Did WVU put a cutout of RR on the sideline???

Postby dolfan » January 2nd, 2008, 6:59 pm

I came in and turned the game on and saw the score 48-28 (I've been working, thought it was over). Well, there goes THAT pick!!!! Congrats to WVU, first win with an interim coach this bowl season. Take that Rodriguez!

Well, the interim did such a good job (or at least they think he did) that they hired him as head coach.

Was that really him or was it the players trying to stick it to RR? It will be interesting to see.

Jeff,

Coach Stewart did a great job last night and worked hard for that since Dec. 16 when just a few minutes after RR told the team he was leaving took the team to the practice field and showed what leadership, loyalty, and courage are all about.

This had nothing to do with sticking it to RR, but a team that wanted to proved to the country 84% of them according to ESPN that this team was more than RR.

I am ashamed of myself for not picking them, I should have my backside kicked for it.

He seemed to be an outstanding guy. I hope he does well.

It had nothing to do with sticking it to Rod, but it sure did feel good to know that that would be a by-product of last nite's win. It has to be the best all-around game WVU has played. Good defense, good offense. Excellent team speed. Could have beaten anyone in the country last nite.

As far as kicking your backside, I'll be glad to oblige you! :D

I would've picked Oklahoma if RR had stayed, I'm afraid. I just figured head to head they'd win. I admit I was more confident after RR left. Ha! Glad I was wrong that time, those guys played their guts out from what I could tell. I didn't change any of my picks (made before some departures) to account for departures. I figure a team's no worse than 50% less likely to win in that situation, and for most of the games with teams with departing coaches, I'd already picked against them (i.e., I picked Florida to beat Michigan) or I just figured it wouldn't hurt that much (a miscalculation, i.e, Georgia Tech and Navy). And, so I was wrong about that, it seems .............................

I'm not so sure about the new hire at WVU. I hope it was not a knee-jerk reaction and everyone was caught up in the moment after the big bowl win.

I know the players love him, but can he recruit to keep the program at its current level? I don't know time will tell.

Will he be able to assemble a staff that will be able to recruit as well? Again I don't know time will tell.

I have heard that Magee the OC is reconsidering his move to Michigan. That is a good sign.
