Topic Starters...

Postby Worshipn4ever » January 9th, 2008, 12:23 pm

What are some good topic starters for an EXTREMELY laid back atmosphere with friends about where we stand in our walk with God. We're wanting to learn not only about each other, but to grow with each other, learn from past mistakes, etc. So...help.

Interesting

Hmmmm --- interesting idea.

"What is the biggest lesson you learned from the worst decision you ever made?"

"If you had a time machine, and could go back and undo one single day of your life, what day would you pick, and why?"
"God is excited to show you mercy. He rises to give you His compassion." (Isaiah 30:18)

"For surely, O LORD, you bless the righteous;
you surround them with your favor as with a shield." (Psalm 5:12)

Pastor Gary;

Some might would rather make mention of the best decision they ever made and what they gained from it; or the best day of their life and why they would not change it for anything in the world (not counting the day of, and the decision they made to serve Christ; which naturally would be the best day for everyone), as the worst day may be too painful for some to want to make mention of. :?:

Perhaps -- but I have learned much more from my mistakes/failures than my successes, and if the idea is to dig deep with "an EXTREMELY laid back atmosphere with friends" you avoid the happy-talk superficiality of "my best day" stories. :wink:

I agree with you on that. One great thing we learn from mistakes is to not repeat them. At least to try harder next time. ](*,)

Not spiritual in nature, but I used to have my students do a writing exercise where they had to tell me five people they would love to have to over for a dinner and why. They could be dead or living, from any time or any culture. It would always surprise me how deep some of the kids would get. Then of course, some of them would be pretty funny also.
