McMackin to become next UH coach
According to the Honolulu Advertiser, "Greg McMackin accepted an offer to become the next University of Hawaii head football coach late Tuesday night, The Advertiser learned."

Gary, is this a good move or not in your opinion?
If I were to read, much less answer, all the attacks made on me, this shop might as well be closed for business. I do the very best I know how, the very best I can, and I mean to keep doing so until the end. If the end brings me out right, what is said against me won't amount to anything. If the end brings me out wrong, ten angels swearing I was right will make no difference." -Abraham Lincoln

Remains to be seen

It remains to be seen. He already lives in Hawaii (hits the ground running), is on staff, knows the players and the local culture and traditions, and did a good job as Defensive Coordinator at UH --- and he was one of Jones' top picks as his replacement.
Whoever follows June Jones' '07 record is going to have big shoes to fill, and will likely be roundly criticized in some areas. If UH pulled everything together and had a great season, and won 70% of their games, it would be a let-down for some after 12-0 and a aBCS bowl game, even when we took the Sugar Bowl beating.
