Unfortunately they are sold out as well.

Anyone in the area have a recommendation, we're looking for clean, safe and cheap.

What areas should be avoided?

Postby Pastor Bill » January 24th, 2008, 8:34 am

So what areas should be avoided, ilovegcats steered us away from some places in 2006 due to bad neighborhoods, and I can remember that Murphreesboro road area should be avoided, but don't remember the other areas to avoid.

Or of course recommendations of good areas to look for are welcome as well.

Isn't that some sort of sin... I thought if you didn't come to the Assembly you were required to stay at home with fasting and prayer being your main focus.... :D

Speaking of which, how is the Avondale/Brick Church Pike area look, there are some cheap places out there, only 3-4 miles from the Sommet.

I have requested information on this area from the Nashville CVB. I will let you know what they say about that area.

There are some decent hotel prices around there, but not knowing the area, I know there are some places NOT to go. (Nothing against Nashville, there are places like that in all big cities) Those areas of course have lower hotel rates, so it's best to check before jumping at the good rate.

Just north of there in the Dickerson Road area looks like some good ones as well, but again I don't know the area.

Last time we stayed at the Ramada Limited at the Stadium, it was the worst hotel experience ever in my life. Absolutely horrible, for all the problems mentioned before, but mainly because we had major problems with the manager, a guy names James (forget his last name). At one point he wanted to kick us out of the hotel.

The Assembly committee (or whoever is organizing the hotel situation) should remove this hotel from the list and not send any of our delegates there.

Avoid it, period.

The Brick Church Pike area while not as bad as the Dickerson Road area would probably not be a good choice for most of the members of this board.

You might want to check out the possibilities in the LaVergne/ Smyrna area. It's located half way between Murfreesboro and Nashville.

There is a newly renovated hotel at the Bell Road exit off 24 in Antioch. It looks really nice.

Stay away from Dickerson Road! Brick Church as well!!

There's also a few hotels in the Franklin, TN area off I-65 just south of Nashville. Its only about 10-15 minutes from downtown Nashville and has a great mall that we go shopping at all the time. Panhandler might know which ones are best.

Has anyone heard anything about the Country Inn and Suites off Bell Road in Antioch? Prices look decent through priceline, but I was wondering about the area.

Additional hotel thoughts

Postby ecmckinley » January 25th, 2008, 4:08 pm

You might want to look at the Goodlettsville/Hendersonville area. Several hotels near Rivergate Mall and a plethora of restaurants. This area is located at I-65 exits 95 and 96. About 12 miles from the center. (Just off Vietnam Veterans Blvd-North of Nashville)

Just a thought.

p.s. I wouldn't recommend Madison area, but the specific area around Rivergate has several options.

OK, we've found a few that we're looking into, thanks to Brother McKinley, I did a search around Goodlettsville, and found a suite on Myatt Road, but I have heard the traffic around there is AWFUL. It's a suite with full kitchen for $55 per night though, so I'm wondering if the traffic is that bad seeing the next best thing we are finding is a regular room (about same distance) with a small fridge and microwave for about $80 in Antioch.

So what does everyone think? is the traffic that bad? or worth the $25 per night and a better room?

The Maxwell House I believe is full, we tried there, but nothing was available. We ended up getting a suite at Crestwood Suites out towards Goodlettsville, we rented by the week which gives us an extra night for only about an extra $25, and it's a full kitchen, King bed, separate living room with single sleeper loveseat. Thanks so much to those who helped us, traffic may be a little rough in the mornings, but someone who drives it everyday passed on that it takes about 20-25 minutes, which isn't bad.
