Hockey

Postby Paully_44 » January 29th, 2008, 10:13 am

I am taking my oldest to a Hockey game tonight. We have a minor league team close by. I have been to only 1 other hocky game in my life and that was nearly 15 years ago.

It should be an interesting night, not knowing the answers to any hockey related questions.

Not being a traditional hockey town, the Nashville Predators do a great job of explaining the rules, penalties, etc. It's in the program and up on the big screen above the ice.

I love going to see the Preds and before that, we had a minor league team...the Nashville Knights.

I don't understand a lot of the things, but am learning.

Don't really have a clue about a lot of the rules of hockey, but been to a few Capitals games and they were a lot of fun.

The puck has to cross the blue line before any player of the team who has the puck or it is an offsides.

Hockey is simple...put the puck in the opposing players net more times than he does in your net and your team wins. Oh and one important rule of thumb.....KEEP YOUR HEAD UP WHEN SKATING WITH THE PUCK!!!
Or else you could become part of the board. I play hockey once or twice a week. My middle brother was a great hockey player. Too bad he never pushed himself to make a career out of it.

I, myself, have played with Al Secord when I worked for American Airlines and played on their travel team. If you are asking who Al Secord is. He was a top player in the NHL during the 1980's, playing for the Boston Bruins, Philadelphia Flyers and his best days were with the Chicago Blackhawks. He is now a pilot with American Airlines.
There is a pic of me and him under my pics on my MySpace.

I've watched 2 live hockey games with the Huntsville Havoc, and I liked what I saw. I think top level hockey, live and in person, could be really, really cool to watch. On TV? Not so much.

Hockey is one of the sports for whatever reason, does not translate that well to TV.
