Survivor Poll..Contains Spoiler info...

Postby turbotim » May 7th, 2004, 5:28 am

OUTLAST, OUTPLAY, AND OUTWIT and become the Ultimate SURVIVOR

I'm hoping that it will be Rupert. He's hilarious. He just takes so much of life in and laughs.

Amber is my second pick. She has a beautiful smile. :) I missed her the first time around b/c I started watching it when Survivor Africa came on.

Boston Rob: I call him BOSS Rob b/c it seems everyone does what he says. But, is HE the real leader here or is he a "Bill Clinton". :D Amber is letting him get all flack while she is flying under the radar.

Jenna; She's a dork... I seriously doubt she wins or even comes in second.

I am pulling for and hoping Rupert wins, but I'm not too confident he will.

I would love to see Rupert win but if Rob keeps winning the challenges then it's gonna come down to the jury and whoever is left with Rob at the end will win by jury vote because Rob has ticked everyone but Amber off

Who cares?
Why is it that bad decisions seem to make to most interesting testimonies?

I understand your implication, and it really isn't in my character to get into something like this, but I haven gotten into it. I'm a Survivor junkie. I hope it fits within the grace God extends to allow me this hour every week to be undeniably superfluous.

It kind of does the same thing for me that playing softball does -- if I didn't have these couple of worldly decompressors, I would be so absolutely high-strung and spiritually intense, I would explode. Maybe literally...

Implication? I just don't give a hang for Survivor, that's all.

Oh darlin' don't do that, even figuratively! I am not against entertainment, as long as it ain't evil. I just don't like "reality TV", never did. It ain't real. If you like it and God doesn't tell you to stop, outwit-outplay-outlast-outjump-outrun-outspit and out-whatever else floats your boat, with my heartfelt blessing.

I do

I do.

No, it's not 'reality,' any more than steroid enhanced multi-million-dollar athletes competing is 'sports.' It is escapist entertainment, pure and simple, and I love it.

After a day of the emotionally draining stuff of ministry, it is wonderful to take an hour or two and sit on the sofa ridding your brain of that stuff so you can sleep by watching something that is just entertainment. Survivor is masterfully edited! Watch for establishing shots -- snakes? the next scene will be a double-cross -- carrion birds? somebody is about to be done in -- last week it was a quick shot of Jenna chopping up coconut that led into scenes of sneaky divide-and-conquer manipulation.

American Idol? What could be a better formula? In the early episodes you have the fun of watching HORRIBLE singers (like everyone knows and wishes they could tell the truth) hear for the first time "You are TERRIBLE!" Then you have the hopeful dreaming dreams of stardom seeing the possibility of a future career. Then the real singing competition begins and we love some/hate some and pick our favorites...

It is terrific entertainment.
"God is excited to show you mercy. He rises to give you His compassion." (Isaiah 30:18)

"For surely, O LORD, you bless the righteous;
you surround them with your favor as with a shield." (Psalm 5:12)

Mike

I take it that your idea of a "real"reality show is the network news...of course that's only if you are a liberal,Democrat,anti-Bush viewer

Hate TV sports myself. I don't think they're all real either. Except for the WWF, of course; those guys aren't acting... :P

me too, I just like a different flavor, that's all.

It is terrific entertainment.

Give me a good sci-fi movie with great special effects, some really funny comic relief, a couple of really good explosions, and a hairy chase scene, and I am happy.

Mike,
Did you think Lord of the Rings - Return of the king was the greatest overall film achievement since the beginning of time?
