Pastor Gary wrote:Now that you've brought it up, do you believe that the kind of uncontrolled jerking pentecostals refer to as "shouting" (and why it is called that is another question) is normative behavior? In other words, do you envision the Apostle Paul shouting in that manner, or is it mostly observed/learned behavior?

Personally, I think alot of it is learned. I grew up in a very consevative baptist church. I didnt start attending a cogop until I was nearly 17. I wanted to fit in and tried the praying loudly, shouting thing, but then thankfully came to the realization it just wasnt me and I stopped trying to be someone I wasnt.

I am sure (and know) that some have questioned my relationship with Christ because they dont see me doing things others are doing, but I know where my heart is.

Didn't watch the video.....don't know how to get a lot of this stuff to come up on my puter half the time.

But, I think I can speak to this issue through experience about as much as any one on here. Not that it is correct.....just have seen a few things.

I am closer to PG on this issue than I once was. I was taught that a good service meant you left looking like you had been in a race, worked an 8 hour job....sweated down, soaked, ......you know....

I practiced that for mannnnnnny years. I was known for my "fervor" in the pulpit and in the altars around the world. I had many encounters with the "real thing" and the "flesh" and you know what......a strage thing happened. I started searching the scripture ....

Lo and behold there is no scriptural reference to the manifestations we call "shouting".....and there is actually none against it either. How about that......

I had a lady ask me what I would do if she started running around the building....I said "I will tell the congregation that you are having a wonderful time edifying yourself.....since you asked.." My rule of thumb is always.....don't do anything in the service you don't do in your private time with the Lord. If you shout, jump up and down, run through your house, whatever......fine....but if you don't do it there.....don't make a show of it here." I can say it has very little to do with spirituality. It is more a choice of how you manifest the spirit. The HG will NOT force you or even cause you to do any of those things.....it is YOUR response to the spirit .....not HIS response to HIS spirit.

Just a little food.

Ron,
I practiced that for mannnnnnny years..(as you wrote) how sad is that
and what you said to that women was totally a lack of wisdom you have no clue what you may have done to her in her walkk with God to say that and to put it in writing is just SAD....it just seems in todays' world the more Education preachers, teachers, pastors get the less Edification Gods gets,,,you may be book wise but your statement to that women was foolish. I have the holy Ghost and am not ashame when his spirit hits me i allow it to move me i would be so scared to every think i would delibertly do something to stop his spirit from moving. I do know this so called Christians have become so bold it is like they are not fearful to say anything against Gods word, spirit.

Good quote. :applaud: :urock:

I use to think something was wrong with me because "the spirit" didn't force me to do those things. You know me... I ain't going no where or doing anything unless invited. *supine* So.. I was left with hurt feelings that was really anger because I wasn't invited along to do the hussle... do-do doo da-do doot.... \:D/

Then of course there is the stare of sinner doom coming from the husslers because I am not in the "wave of glory" streaming through.

Reminds me of my college daze at a Nazarene University. During chapel a friend brought a mouse in and let it go during the sermon. I was crying that day during church........... from laughing so hard.

I disagree. The scripture says the spirit is subject to the prophet, not the other way around. Which totally puts us in control to jump or not jump, jerk or not jerk, "shout" or not "shout," be quiet or not be quiet. There is nothing "fearful" about my deciding to run or not run around the building.

How can you think that laughing at the power of God is funny these people were making fun of when the spirit hits us Gods holy power anointing and we shout from his wonderful powerful blessing and to look at this as humor where is the fear of God

After seeing what they had posted to Dr. Ron I thought I would post it.

I don't like being judged. The Spirit can move as HE well pleases, but it is judgemental attitudes - you know - you are not "fearing" God cause you do not act like I do or do as I say God wants you too move - attitude that has destroyed thousands of relathionships with Christ in COGOP and other denoms.

It was funny! God gives us the ability and the joy to laugh at ourselves and others. Legalism does not give us that joy or ability.

let me say in the defense of Kbevangelist, I posted the videos they were on another minister in the church of God's myspace , another person in the church of God sent t to me yesterday, I had seen it a while ago already and was not sure if everyone else did. Everyone i know ministers included thought it was relaxingly funny not insulting. INsulting would be mocking it as if the movement is fake in general.
However i can see now how it could be offensive , i should never have posted it , please except my humble apology.
I love rejoicing in God's power the rest of these discussions, well you see my post......
These videos are my fault not kbevangelist nad i apologize KBEVANGELIST for you taking heat for it, I am sorry to all that were offended.
I guess why some find it funny is becasue we have all been in a service where you would just love to see the holy ghost move on in, that is what it was like to me not a mockery.

I AM VERY SORRY THIS HAS CAUSED SO MUCH CONFUSION AND OUTRAGE IF LOOKED AT IN THE OTHER CONTEXT IT MAY NOT BE OFFENSIVE YET IT MAY, I AM SORRY FOR OFFENDING ANYONE PLEASE, PLEASE FORGIVE ME. ANYONE THAT KNOWS ME KNOWS I WOULD NEVER DO SOMETHING TO OFFEND NOR WOULD I MOCK THE SPIRIT OF GOD. I TOOK THE VIDEOS OFF AFTER 3 OR 4 COMMENTS AND KBEVANGELIST TOOK HIS QOUTE OF MINE OFF AS WELL.

AFTER THE BATTLES I HAVE BEEN FIGHTING LATELY I THINK I WILL TAKE A BREAK FROM FORUMS.....
I LOVE YOU ALL SEE YA,
I WILL CHECK MY PM'S SO IF YOU WANT TO BY ALL MEANS. IT HAS BEEN A HARD , VERY HARD FEW MONTHS. MAY GOD RICHLY BLESS

I don't usually respond to these things but I thought it was funny too!! We can go around with our feeling on our shoulders and our lips poked out over little things like this and we seem less concern that people are lost and more and more are turning from the church everyday because of attitudes like this. I guess what's impotant to a lot of people is being able to say I was right.

I can not picture Christ spending all this time over a stupid video unless he was laughing at it.

In the way you look at it.

Postby Brenda » April 8th, 2008, 9:30 am

When I seen the video I seen a people who were standing still one moment...one fella playing the piano the girl leading the song service and a drummer, drumming.
And when another person sprayed them with shout out...they begin to act like the power was on them throwing their arms up and their heads jerking back and forth.
Now to me for a person to do that would be what we southerners use to call...puttin' on. Acting like the Lord was blessin' you.
And there are people who do, do that. What benefit it will do them, is zilch. Its all a pretend. Empty!

Now, I told my husband about it and he laughed. The first words he said were, oh they use holy water on them? And laughed.
To me it was offensive in that a people would and I know there are those that do it; pretend without it actually being the Spirit of God on them.
Still, again, why they do it.. is unbeknown to me.
No benefit for them. (I guess I have to much of the fear of God ingrafted into me)

I have moved under the power of God like Rahab said happened to her. I'd be worshipping the Lord with my eyes closed and open them and I'd be in another place. And wonder how I got there..but knowing the Lord had done it. I sure hadn't done it in myself.

As one old preacher said, "without the real thing, you can't have a counterfeit."
