I'm sorry but that remark originates from a religious spirit if ever I encountered one. Haven't you ever heard of receiving a prophet's and/or righteous man's reward by receiving the prophet and/or righteous man? Well, it's in that "real" word of God. Matthew 10:41.

And, no, I'm not Ron, but he is my brother and like family to me, and I defend family.

Good words....no one likes being judged, unfortunately that happens way too often. Oh the stories I could tell....

Don't forget that, okay. I tend to get in a lot of trouble. :D

Danny has done a Shout 3 several times himself.

Amen and everytime but once it was in the Spirit. I know the time and place that I once got in myself. I am sure of such.

Ro 8:11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

His Spirit has many times made my mortal body alive or revitalized. Some have gotten into themselves but they are merely mocking the real thing. was I edified when I "shouted"? Sure! Were others edified when I shouted? I suppose they could have been?

I have "shouted" in my personal prayer time, in my car/truck, at church, etc. I have done so since my TCoG days and am unashamed. NEVER will 'fake it" again because I know that I was wrong to do so. I didn't altogether fake it but I went farther than was lead to do.

We have different God given temperaments and I believe that is why some "shout" and some do not. Those that were baptized with the Holy Ghost on the day of Pentecost seemed to be drunk. I have no doubt that they "shouted".

I will not turn from truth especially what I have experienced to be true just because lots of folks get in their self. It is true that the Holy Ghost is a gentleman and He will never force Himself on you. we always have free will and the right to choose. God has always spoken to my spirit and I usually say YES to Him and then comes the "shout".

I don't speak in tongues on my or any other person's command and neither do I "shout" on demand. It has to be the Lord and believe me I try the spirits to the extreme even to the point of quenching too often.
I have piped unto you, and ye have not danced!

I have never seen a drunk person "shout." Ever.

Gary, I was referring to the movement of people's body as quickened by the Spirit. Such movement, called "shouting" by some, could resemble drunkenness.

Now that you've brought it up, do you believe that the kind of uncontrolled jerking pentecostals refer to as "shouting" (and why it is called that is another question) is normative behavior? In other words, do you envision the Apostle Paul shouting in that manner, or is it mostly observed/learned behavior?

I think shouting was the term you used. 8)

And, I still maintain, to associate "... the movement of people's body as quickened by the Spirit..." "the kind of uncontrolled jerking pentecostals refer to as "shouting" " with the presumed drunkenness on the Day of Pentecost is a massive leap --- shouting does not resemble the reeling, stumbling behavior of a drunk in any possible way.

That's why I maintain that shouting has pretty much nothing to do with Pentecost, and I think your pastor is likely to agree.

Of course not. You wouldn't be YOU if you didn't disagree about something.

Shout

Postby Dr. Ron » April 8th, 2008, 6:09 pm

FIGILIFE...I thank you for your critique of my post.

Just so you will know, I had the education, or most of it, long before I came to the scriptural conclusion I have come to. Education did not erode my spiritual condition at all. I am still just as spiritual and speak in tongues as much as ever. I just normally now do it as my prayer language to God. I have people in my church who do it every service....they just don't force anyone else to put up with their fleshly outbursts. They are "decent and in order". I have some who shout....
I have some who raise their hands and glorify God....I did become a watered down hypocrite.

I just know that "most" of what we did was learned behavior and we gave people free expression of feelings of joy and elation. No problem....just not real important. Again. I think my "wisdom" was right for my congregation and the woman I was speaking with. I knew her well and knew her reasons for wanting to run around the building.

About 25% of my church are former Church of Christ and Catholic. They don't understand a lot of that ......but they are learning a deeper walk and are warming up to some more of the "depth" of worship. I will be patient and do what God has directed me to do with my church. YOur judgement of me has no effect on me at all in that regard.

I wish you well and pray that you don't hurt yourself "shouting".
Dr. Ron
