Dawg, you done gone and made me laugh!! I was going to post something similar, but you did so well, I will just ditto off of yours. :)

Gloom and doom? in Mississippi churches? Perhaps they do exist, but I feel they are few and far between. Geez, I should get out more often. Our church is so progressive, we have even been ask if we REALLY are a COGOP. The MS churches are on the go, just watch us get it right.

I read all this .....I promise......every word.

PG, I appreciate your attempts to make the New Order of the COGOP look very progressive....and as it has been for decades, there are pockets of that.

Interestingly enough, I had this conversation with my sister in law yesterday. She is the church treasurer and secretary.....Nothing has changed in her little MIssissippi church. Yes, some Miss. churches have changed, but not many.

I got a call from my wife's cousin......in Alabama ....asking if I could recommend a church to her in her area. She is tired of having to deal with the "jewelry" issue.....(she ain't saved cause she's got on a rang)

And it goes on and on and on......just last week one of the most brilliant and Godly men and his awesome wife were refused to be allowed to work in the kitchen in camp by the overseer, because he is no longer a member of CGOP. When he was a minister, he was the camp coordinator.

And it continues. So, yes there have been some denominational changes, but it has not "filtered down" as many would have others think. I can take you to at least 5 churches within a 40 mile radius of here and show you it has not.

So, now that I have dumped cold water on a "funny post" I will retreat to my "cut and run" cave and look for more ways to flake out!!!!

Hey Ron,
I think you and PG are OK.

one love, I believe that scooter was making reference to TGOG's relatively small membership.

This is off topic, but is TCOG still 3 different groups all claiming the exclusive title to the one true church or did they ever get that resolved?

TCOG Nabors
TCOG Smith

Yes Nabrs went on his own and that is not going to change at the moment.
The stand are still doing just as they were andI am good friends with many of them and Love them very much. However they still do not claim to have reorganized.

TCOG is still going on as usual and we have been seeing some good things happening. Of course we have our problems and these issues I avoid completely so i hope this helps brother may God richly bless you.

Ok scooter i get it.. Hey you maybe surprised to see some of our congregations but there are many small churches and but there are many that have grown well. When you go to FOTW you will see my cousins church he pastors there. Hopefully i can meet that week
There are many churches with over 50 members but that would be small to you all however short time for us  Ther are some with much higher numbers 75-100 members, and there are many that have 9 members as i pastored

You would really get along with him he is a good guy. All I ask can I get a ride on a bike, I would say I would ride someones but if my neck act up i may not be able to hold up the bike before I take off and I dont need a bunch of angry bikers that mya lost there sanctification       I really would like to be there so if it does not collide with any convention dates hopefully i will becuase i will be moved by then and it would only be 4-5 hours away. So I could go visit my newly married sister in law and stay there at there new place in murphy.

I know they don't "claim" it, but when I read the website, there is at least one statement that goes directly against that claim.

It seems that they maybe really need this group to help them deal with their denial. :o

The scary thing from me is, I'm 28 and I understood every single one of those things! Probably 'cuz all that was current in my former church before I pulled my escape from COGOP last year. And yes, it was kinda like Escape from New York, but I didn't have an eyepatch. :(

Yes I do know my former church was an abberation, etc, etc, etc and I do not make a blanket statmeent about all COGOP etc, etc, etc.

I "got it" all, too, and can laugh along with the rest.

I've seen all that and more, having been raised in the 60's by COGOP grandparents, both of whom were "hell-fire and brimstone" preachers who believed the one-fold message until their dying day.

Of course, after M.A. Tomlinson resigned and COGOP in general became more and more progressive, they choose the "concerned" path and there remained, with the message they believed with all of their heart and passion. The love and respect I had for them transcended our differences in belief and the christian walk. I changed - they didn't, simple as that, but none the superior, at least to me. When I get to heaven, they will welcome and rejoice with me, right along with the rest of my Kingdom brothers and sisters.

As I read down the "COGOPA" list and chuckled with visions of the past dancing in my head, I concluded that it was all part of the incredible journey of my life with Jesus, and I wouldn't trade a single mile thus far.
