you're kidding right?

Most people that are raped are defenseless.

I'm not sure how you could misunderstand me. But what I was saying is that if a person knows they would get the death penalty if they commit a crime, then maybe it would prevent them from committing it in the first place.

I agree with TW. There is no physical harm that could be inflicted on the perpetrator that would equal the crime. There could be no "eye for an eye" because they haven't just physically harmed the victim... they've stolen innocence, and that's just the tip of the iceberg.

A person that steals. still steals even if they know they will be locked up for a long time. but i guess your all wright . i'll tell you what how bout well just all pray they never get saved so the sinners will go to hell. NOW NOW NOW dont get me wrong i think the people that hurt kids and do this to other people should not do that !!!!!!!!!!!! but i find it werd that you can get on here and just bash them... "let GOD do that on judgement day . I would bet that if I could dig into some of your closets you wouldn't want people to know them hush hush things from your past.

Ask yourself am I working hard enuff to convert sinners like that rapest so they dont hurt any more childeren or the killers so they dont kill, or the robbers so they dont steal, or drug addicts so the dont do drugs. "your friend chris"

Chris,

I take it from your post that you do not have children?

i dont think it really matters what the punishment is. the rapist better hope and pray the police catch them first. "the law" would be the least of their worries.

Actually I do have two wonderful children, and i am hurt and sadden for the victems. But i wonder if your judgement and conviction would be the same if it was your dad , or mom, or brother, or sis, someone in your family ect. was the one getting hung from a tree with barbed wire.
my point in this is that we as christians dont have the right or should not have the spirt to want people to be killed. but we should work on the. "before crime problems."
your friend chris,

Well i guess VA is the place to be for rapists. I find it hard to believe any real father would stand by and pray for their child while they were getting raped. If YOU were getting raped you wouldnt just lay there and pray would you??

(chris is my brother so don't be too hard on him. I can say without a doubt that he is not soft on crime or criminals, even more so if it involves his children and family.)

Hey brother whats up? We have had many lengthy talks about this very type of thing, and I have to say we agree on this issue (unlike a few others  ). I know your not saying that someone who rapes a child, or anyone for that matter, shouldn't suffer a very sever punishment. However, the murderous killing wrapped in barbed wire type of stuff isn't a very good representation of the life of Christ.

Of course we all have human emotion and the first thing we want to do is rip the guts of anyone who would even think of hurting our families......remember when we talked about almost wanting someone to break into our house so we could just severely devastate them with extreme bodily harm?!! :)

Anybody can kill, hurt, mame, torture, etc. etc. the devil and his cronies do it everyday. But it takes something quite different to look into the eyes of someone who has hurt the very weakest of this world and forgive them, dare I say love them? THAT my brother is what being like Christ is all about.
It would be easy to straggle the life out of someone who hurt my 2 year old son or 14 year old daughter in such a manner. Its something quite different, something heavenly if you will, to forgive that person.

We are not called to be Christ only in the thereafter. We are called to be Christ like TODAY, right now!

God bless.

You know what my friend I take GREAT OFFENSE at the implication that my brother would just "stand by" while this EXTREMELY VIOLENT offense was happening to his children. That is a low blow brother!!! All because he wouldn't run someone up with barbed wire and rip there skin from there bones and drink up there blood while they lay dieing face down in the mud.
MY BROTHER IS AS REAL A FATHER AND MAN THAN ANYONE I KNOW!!! And yes I am yelling!

I'm not sure this thread was about a man getting caught raping a child. I'm sure that most of us would kill the pervert. The thread is about the Supreme Court, mostly conservative, striking down the proposal for rapists to be executed when they did not kill their victims. And for those that think that child rapists aren't raped themselves, repeatedly, while serving out their sentence then I say you know not what we speak of.
I have piped unto you, and ye have not danced!

Chris, I think I know what you are saying and if I do then you are right about the need to pray for these individuals. Mine brother has just in the last three or four weeks had his house and all that he had burned, even his work truck and tools. What he almost lost was his son as he was sleeping in his bed room. I passer by hadn't seen the smoke then and stop and woke him up, his son most likly would have burned up in the fire as it burn the house to the ground in just a few minutes time. When asked about the boy that set the fire, my brother said that that was God's soul and that He would deal with it.

The problem is that I have known of dogs that after they got a taste of blood, they had to be destroyed because of just a matter time before they will kill again. Even God makes allowance for this kind of beheaver. Yes I know that we will have to go back to the Law to read this. For some it seeems that this is the only way to stop them. Two Cents
God Bless

raping a child is just a disease as acoholism and need to be treated by a therapist and released. I know this does not seem to fit but it is true.

---ok that is a joke of me playing the ultimate liberal----

I dont think there is any punishment good enough for the crime against precious children. I think the death penalty is the best because there is not a amount of torture that would be worse then hell. People think sometimes well to kill them is getting off easy but I think it is worse because unles they have a real spiritual moment there is nothing that could be done here that would be worse burning for eternity.

I had a battle with the death penalty for a while when I first started studying the bible and thought it was wrong because it was murder and the eye for an eye thing christ said the opposite.
However I have a different view at this point. If one is with out a doubt guilty confession and all they should not sit on death row for years, do it right after leaving the court. If there is any doubt rather they are guilty then I can see waiting a period.

No need

Postby Pastor Gary » June 25th, 2008, 11:02 pm

There is probably no need for a death penalty for child rapists... the fate they are likely to suffer in prison may be worse than death.

There is an unwritten code among the incarcerated, and people who molest or rape children are lower than the bottom of the food chain. The things that are done to them by the other inmates can not be posted here.
"God is excited to show you mercy. He rises to give you His compassion." (Isaiah 30:18)

"For surely, O LORD, you bless the righteous;
you surround them with your favor as with a shield." (Psalm 5:12)
