I have no idea what any of you folks are talking about?

Billy Wilson is probably breathing better. He has alot on his plate. See http://www.worldimpact.tv/about_bw.php And he has this http://www.oru.edu/boardoftrustees/

And I heard that Larry Duncan has had some health issues and looking to slow down. I don't think he has to look for work. He has plenty to do.

Those things are wonderful, and I'm happy for him. The fact is though, that those 2 ministries are now outside of COGOP. All I'm saying is that him not being involved actively in a ministry role within COGOP would be a big loss to COGOP.

Dr. Ron, you nailed that one.

I was sitting in the arena when all this took place. I felt like I was at work. I see this every few months. What every one saw in that arena Sunday was a professional way to let someone go.

The VP of the company I work for does the same thing. He has a big celebration, gives out awards, gives a speech on all the great things the person has done for the company, then lets them go to pursue other oportunities. It was classic corporate america. And like I said, very professional. If you have to let people go, this is the way to do it.

What a shame!! I sincerely hope you will not be the next one it happens too.

The main differance in the church should be that we have love one to another. Corperate America does not. If we do these type things as Coperate america does them, niether will we.

If we all would recall Bishop wilson was considered hidh on the list for General Overseer. At one time it was if her were just a little older. the next time it was he would be better out thereexcercising his influence outside the COGOP.

"Professional and Kind Corperate America and the Polity of the COGOP" written by Bishop Willaim Wilson. he too much of a man to write it, but I would like to read it.

I think the thought of Bishop Wilson "looking for a job" is just LOL.

I don't know all the behind the scenes stuff here, but the perception of some will be that he was forced out. That is a shame.

I love Bro. Howard and I think he and the presbyters did a great job with this Assembly. We are generally moving in a very positive direction right now. However, I think it is a grave mistake to allow Bro. Billy to get away from us, when he is one of our most anointed ministers. We should have kept funding VOS if only to keep Bro. Billy. Our loss will be someone elses huge gain.

I hope I'm wrong about this and I hope Bro. Billy will be back after a few years. It doesn't seem too hopeful right now though.

Does anyone actually know if Billy Wilson is leaving or thinking of leaving COGOP?

What has he said about it?

Is it possible that he not only knew of this move, but was a partner in it?

Does COGOP owe him a job? If so, how can the organization maintain any degree of flexibility when everyone who works for it is signed on as an employee for life??

Is his only strength and skill preaching on TV and being an ambassador of sorts between COGOP and COG and a curator of history within American pentecostalism? Or, is that selling him short, since he is, by all estimates, a very gifted man?

While I have the greatest respect and admiration for Billy Wilson, having worked directly and indirectly with him for many years at International Headquarters, there were hundreds of dynamic, anointed ministers before him who left COGOP; all a great loss to the organization.

I seemed to have triggered something I didn't intend. I did not intend for my thoughts to say that the Church is using cold hard corporate tactics. I should have left out one sentence in my response. I just meant that things were done in a professional manner. The VP I talked about above is a good man, and he is new to the company. The company needs new focus and needs to get out of the same old thought processes. Sometimes that means "setting people free to pursue other oportunies". Like you said, I hope I am not the next one it happens to....but since he is the one who hired me, hopfully that will not happen.

All these we have talked about are still going to be in the ministry. All great men. A shuffle at the International Offices may not be a bad thing.

Just my thoughts......I did not mean that these were the actual reasons any of this happend. Just my observation from being neck deep in the business world.

If you read my posts above, you would see that, from what was said on the stage at the IA Sunday by Bro. Howard and Bro. Wilson, it appears that he is NOT leaving COGOP as a member. From what was said it appeared that he won't have any active role in ministry within COGOP. Bro. Howard said Bro. Billy would be an "emisary of the COGOP" to any organization that he (Billy) chose to work with.

Is it possible that he not only knew of this move, but was a partner in it?

It is possible. I hope that was the case.

No, and no one said that. All I said was that it is a shame to loose such an able minister from active ministry within the denomination.

DaJudge, I'm sorry if I sounded accusatory. I didn't mean to. There just seemed to be a vibe (not you, but the entire thread, really) that somehow an injustice was done to Billy Wilson and he was taking his toys and leaving. But, no one said why that was even on the radar.

And, if Wilson is not on the staff in Cleveland, it is not a disaster. No one has said why he'd be leaving COGOP, but suggested that he might or could. That just seems not to be right when there's been nothing known to be said by him about that. The guy can do a million things, probably. He's got a heart about revival and awakening, so I figure somehow and someway that'll be central to what he does next.

Yep. He sure does. That's why I would hate to lose him to the organization.

BTW In nothing that I've said have I intended to bash COGOP leadership. I think Bro. Howard is a great overseer and I've got a lot of respect for him and the presbyters. It was a great assembly and I think we are going in a positive direction.

I understand, and hope I didn't come across as saying otherwise, really.

As a guy who was looking in on parts (only a few) of the assembly online, and seeing almost nothing posted here about it, I knew two things were true: 1. No controversy happened. 2. Everyone must have gotten along through it pretty smoothly process wise. From watching Jude2 last week, you'd almost not even have known there was an assembly! And, that's probably a good thing because you need some peace and not a constant storm. :)

Thanks for all the clarification DaJudge...the emissary statment makes me feel better...

As long as he stays COGOP...it might be a very good thing that he is working "outside" the church...this gives us recognition that we don't normally get....and as long as he continues to minister...I don't think it matters who signs his paycheck....I don't consider it to be "loosing" him as long as he maintains membership...

It's kinda like military chaplaincy....the Chaplain ministers "outside" the COGOP....but he or she is a representative and ambassador for the church in the military...but is paid by the military.

I have no issue with something like this...you could also look at professors...Once I complete my degree...I could maintain my credentials and teach full-time at another churches institution and still be considered to be COGOP.
