Chad Johnson shoul just change his name to Ima Idiot

CINCINNATI -- Maybe receiver Chad Johnson can go by the name that his head coach hates.

Will this be Chad Johnson's new uniform?
The Cincinnati Bengals receiver has legally changed his name to Chad Javon Ocho Cinco in Broward County, Fla., a switch that became official this week, according to several media reports. The Broward County Clerk of Courts lists a Chad Javon Johnson who filed a name change on Aug. 8.

Johnson, who lives in Miami, didn't return a message left on his cell phone Friday night.

"It's something I don't think anyone has ever done before," he told the team's website. "Have I ever had a reason for why I do what I do? I'm having fun."

Two years ago, Johnson gave himself the moniker -- a reference in Spanish to his No. 85 -- and put it on the back of his uniform before a game. Quarterback Carson Palmer ripped it off before the kickoff. After the season, coach Marvin Lewis -- who dislikes Johnson's attention-getting stunts -- referred to the receiver as "Ocho Psycho."

Bengals spokesman Jack Brennan said the Bengals had no comment on the matter.

Johnson has been a concern for the Bengals this season. He unsuccessfully lobbied for a trade in the offseason, threatening to sit out if he didn't get his way. When the Bengals refused, he relented and showed up for minicamp, but complained that his right ankle was bothering him.

He had bone spurs removed from the ankle and was limited at the start of training camp. In the second preseason game, he landed awkwardly and temporarily dislocated his left shoulder. Johnson is wearing a harness and expects to play in the season opener against Baltimore.

In my opinion some people like Chad Johnson do these things for attention only and yes we give full attention so they will continue.

Why does that make him an idiot?

He clearly states why he did it....he's having fun. Does that make someone an idiot? So what if you don't think it's funny. At least he's having fun (dances, being flamboyant) doing what he enjoys doing (football).

Of course, we could all hope that pros and colleges will do what they seem to be trying to do, take the fun and emotion out of football. That will be fun to watch.

The personalities that back it up with talent have made the sport interesting since back in the 70's

there is a big difference between having fun and doing stupid things for attention. He has proven over and over it is all about HIM. This move is just another example of that.

Wonder how much fun it will be when he gets traded and he has to take the number 84? Or when he is 60 and doesn't play ball. I mean think about it P diddy has not legally changed his name... ( I don't think)

To me that is a prime example why most pro sports have gone down hill. It is too much about each star than the team or the game. That is why I am a college guy, at most 4 years and the "star" is gone and it is still about the team

Imagine him being traded? He begged for it and they refused.

As they were saying, once again, on Pre-game show today. T.O. is all about T.O. Chad Johnson is all about having fun. Big difference. Chad hasn't ever quit on his team like Randy Moss and T.O. have.

They can say it all they want, but it is all about Chad.... Just like it is all about TO and Rany Moss. They are all the same. I bet if you asked Moss or TO they would say they are just having fun as well.

I think it is a thug move and proves it is all about him. I don't know if TO or Moss or even Johnson has quit on his team.... I don't watch these shooting stars.

I don't watch them, but I do watch football. So therefore you see them. And if you watch any of the sports shows, they show what they are up to.

T.O. quit on the Eagles and caused problems like crazy.

Randy Moss walked off the field DURING A GAME when he played for the Raiders and said he wouldn't try again. He wanted to be traded.

Mr. Ocho Cinco's teammates defended him last season when his sense of humor was questioned. Several of them stated that the only ones that were upset were the ones that didn't know him. His team gets the joke because they are in on the joke.

But I'm sure you know him better.

I bet Hitlers friends thought he was a good guy too, and that people didn't get the joke. Afterall his buddies were in on it too.

team sports needs to be about the team and not the players. No matter who that player is, (even Peyton) I played some ball and I know the best the game will be is when it is for the love of the game. TO ME and many others this is just more proof to him it is about HIM...
