urgent Prayer request...

Postby TC » October 1st, 2008, 12:04 pm

I feel like a jerk, I have been so busy with other things and work that I have not checked my email or returned a few "missed calls" well a good friend had been calling me for prayer for his family and his son.

The son just turned five and is a really great kid. Well he was feeling a little ill and they did some test and found out he has "acute lymphoblastic leukemia" I am not sure about what all that means but today they were taking him in to put some tube in his chest to start his treatment.

It has really hit my friend hard, one day they are talking about preschool and the next they are looking at best a few years of treatments.

Please pray they are doing the surgery as I type this

thanks

Praying here, too.
Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer Psalm 19:14

Sitting here with my almost 5 year old watching a few minutes of TV, I pray for God's miracle healing of this little one.

jinjer... No

here is an email I got from him a few mins ago.

Shawn is back in his room sleeping. He has only woke up briefly and complained of pain. The nurse gave him something to soothe him and he went back to sleep...but only after asking for his cousin to come visit him (which was nice because he's been grumpy all day). He had the "port" inserted into his chest and he had a spinal tap done. The tap was to make for certain that no leukemic cells were in his spinal/brain fluid... that would lead to much harsher treatment. He also received his first dose of chemo, so we are on pins and needles wondering how he will react to it. We find out tomorrow morning if his spinal fluid is clear, so I suppose thats the next big step.

I know all little ones are great and they all touch your heart. THis little boy is the sweetest kid, loves to play but he has to have everyone play as well. Doesn't know much about football or basketball but watches every second with his dad. He asks his dad every day... Do we watch a game tonight?

Please keep praying.

Still praying!! I can't imagine watching your child go through these treatments. It was hard enough for me to watch my Mom!

A testimony for many years ago. My dear friend as a teenager, Kim, was diagnosed with a brain tumor at age 14, they told us she wouldn't live to see her 15th birthday!! Our church at Highview began to pray, she had surgery which they removed 90% of the tumor. The other 10% was too close to the brain stem. Then there was the radiation. It was tough days. Today she is 46 years old married with 3 children. Is she perfectly healed, no. She has a shunt to keep the fluid in her cranium drained. The 10% of the tumor has shrunk and not grown all these years, she has trouble walking without stumbling. But she is a wonderful lady, who was told she wouldn't turn 15!! That was a defining moment in my life as a young teenager. I thank God for saving my friend Kim. I know that He knows best for all of us. No matter His answer for each of us, He has perfect control!!!
