It's October and my first Top Ten Poll

Postby Rob » October 5th, 2008, 3:51 am

This is when I think the first poll should be released. Hogwash with the preseason polls.

1. Oklahoma - They have been the most dominate team in the country the first month.

2. Alabama - They were flat this past weekend, but I still think they will win the west in the SEC.

3. LSU - They continue to win, however in the swamp this weekend, they will meet their match.

4. Texas - This will be Oklahoma first major test this year in the Red River shoot out.

5. Penn St. - The class of the Big Ten, and could be Joe Pa's best team ever.

6. Missouri - I'm still not sold on this team yet, and their schedule is very weak. They may not lose till the Big XII championship.

7. USC - I still think this is one of the top 3-4 teams in the country.

8. Texas Tech - a lot of fun to watch on offense, they throw the ball all over the field.

9. OSU - The game with Penn St. will decide who goes to the Rose Bowl.

10. Florida - I still think they will win the SEC east and will win the SEC.

Honorable Mention - Vanderbilt - Who would have thunk it that Vandy would be leading the SEC east the beginning of Oct.

Missing from my list BYU - I think they are undefeated by a bogus call (it was the right call, but still bogus) at Washington.

I agree with your assessment for the most part, with exception to Florida winning the SEC.

I agree except Florida. I think Ga will win the East in SEC.

I like Texas this weekend. Love Penn State's resurgence (I'll restate that I'd love for Bama to get to play them in a bowl game this year.) Not a Texas Tech fan, and we'll see how good they really, really are. I'm a Gator fan this week, obviously. USC is still one of the best, I'll agree.

And, how 'bout them Commdores, hah? I relished, relished, relished that game on Saturday night. Bama's got a bye, then Ole Miss. Better put their big boy underwear on, because Ole Miss is going to be a tough game. Soft spots in our coverage that Kentucky took advantage of last week will, unless these guys are ready, be even softer with Jevan Snead at QB. I just have been afraid of this game since the get-go this year. Don't like it at all. UT is the week after, and I am afraid our guys may be looking ahead. Ole Miss is catching us at the right time.
