Super Bowl

Postby Rob » January 19th, 2009, 5:54 am

Okay, honestly at the beginning of the year who had Arizona in the Super Bowl? Probably only the Cardinals themselves and the folks from Pheonix.

I did hope that my Steelers would be there as I do every year and here they are.

Now who will win?

I am pulling for the commercials. I am not a fan or a hater of the Cardinals and really dont care for the Steelers.

I am really looking forward to the halftime show though.

The Cardinals are no joke, and if the Steelers take them lightly they are gonna look silly. However, I have sufficient faith in Coach Tomlin and LeBeau that the Steelers will be ready. My call: Steelers win their Sixth Super Bowl.

Just updated my blog with my prediction

I think Arizona is the better story. Pittsburgh is boring and has experience.

I go with Pittsburgh 24-17 win.

I will allow Pittsburgh to win only on the condition that they give back the 2006 trophy. #-o (still bitter)

I like Rothlisberger but don't particularly like the Steelers as a franchise. The Cardinals became a charter member of the NFL in 1898 and have never won a Super Bowl. They are the underdogs, so I hope they win. But I expect the Steelers to win because their defense is so good and the Cardinals seem to be better offensively than defensively.

This could be a blowout, but I HOPE it is as good as the Panther-Patriot SB was. I expect a Steeler victory, want one, and man, how good does Bill Cowher look now that both of his assistants are coaching against each other in the Super Bowl???

Can the Cards put one together long enough to make this a real game? I don't doubt it, but I expected them to cave against Carolina. So, I've been wrong about them this playoff season. They got a good win against Philly. They will probably be fun to watch, but Polamalu (sp?) and Townsend (Deuce!!!!! ---- sorry, I broke Bama on Deshea there for a sec) could eat him alive with INT's if the pressure gets to him.

Tomlin didn't work for Cowher. He was at Minnesota and was hired to replace Cowher. Beforehand he was at Tampa.

Whisenhunt was at Vandy though for a time and one of his assistants was a coach at a local prep school just a few years back.

Tim, why do you not particularly like the Steelers as a franchise? There has, in my opinion, not been a more class act as a franchise as the Steelers. The Rooney Rule, that has given a chance like Dungy, and now Tomlin to coach in the NFL.
