What is wrong when you go to x out of the internet and internet windows just start poping up. Sometimes they pop up so fast you can't x out and before you know it you have 15 or 20 windows. I have to bring up task manager to get it to stop or just shut down. Does it mean something is wrong with the internet explorer. If so how do I fix it? Would appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks

First to stop pop ups(pop unders this is what this is) install a pop up blocker, something like google tool bar has a good blocker.

Second you need to scan for adware, malware.
Go to http://www.lavasoft.com/products/ad_aware_free.php
and download and scan.

Check to see if that helps. post back

These windows that are poping up is like when you first click on the icon to get on to the internet. It is like when you click the mouse to many times and your internet comes up the number of times you clicked it.

sounds like malware/addware/spyware. (even happens on macs). have you been able to install a pop-up blocker, or change browsers? any success with scanning for viri/malware?

When and where? Links? I'm talking about something that installs without your knowledge and executes. To date I have not seen anything like this in the wild on a mac.

Safari has a built in Popup blocker to stop these crazy scripts from remote sites etc. Super nice.

In your first post you had said, these popup unders happened when you closed a window. For this install the pop up blocker.

If it's as you say now even if you're not online these pop ups keep coming up. What are the window pages? Does this happen on other icons like my documents windows.? I would run the adware or your virus scan.
Have you tried a system restore point?

But it maybe you mouse is sticking. Hope this can help you.

I had the same problem about a year ago. You have some spyware/virus thing going on with your computer. I went to Office Max and bought a pc restoration program for 99.00, They hooked up to my pc in safe mode and fixed all the problems. I gave them access to my computer and went to bed. When I woke up I had a message left on notepad on my screen and my computer ran like new. I had tried dif anti spyware and virus programs but the little bugs would not allow them to fix the problem.

If you can't go back to a cleaner system restore point, then download combofix and run to delete any adware/malware/virus.
