This is a very real issue, whether we like it or not. How we deal with it will determine the future of the church.

No way! The future of the church has already been predetermined by God. It can do nothing but that. Now, our part in the church is a different story. But no social agenda, no earthly power, do demonic force, determines the future of the church. Christ has already determined, purchased, and sealed our future -- the gates of hell shall not prevail.

Speak the truth. Speak it in love. Speak it uncompromisingly, and unashamedly. Speak it that other may hear and know the freedom we now know after having heard and received the love of the truth ourselves.

I think, too, that society would be less contentious about these things if marriage were strictly a religious matter.

The problem there Tim, is that Biblically, marriage is not ONLY religious in nature. And this goes to the point that one cannot truly separate life from religion, society from theology, nor creation from the Creator, however hard they might try.

If we truly are unable to keep the sacred sacred, then shouldn't we be willing to see society mock our other sacraments en masse and just deal with it politically?

Not at all! And that's not what I meant to convey. It is not that we can't keep the sacred sacred, is that even the secular is in truth submissive to the sacred (whether they like it, admit, know it or not). At the very least, thankfully, the Ruler of all creation will judge the nations for this and other things in the coming of His Kingdom visible to the Earth.

Chris, all I can say upon reading these posts is that I am certain that I am in the presence of greatness.

"I was public-schooled, and I turned out alright." I have heard this argument too many times (and could probably make it for myself, too. I'm sure there are more people that have driven drunk and not killed anyone, than that have, but the risk is too high to not prohibit drunk driving.

I appreciated Dr. Kent Hovind's comment when asked whether he felt that Creation should be taught in public schools. He said, "You're not asking the right question. Ask me whether or not I think there should be public schools."

We decided to home school our children from the beginning, and with my son and daughter now finishing the 7th and 4th grades, respectively, I do not regret it in the least.

I do not judge parents that send their kids to public school, but if asked, I encourage all who can to home school, or find other alternative education. And those that do have children in public school to take an extremely active part in every aspect of their education to determine what they are being taught and to counter the secular indoctrination that the system propogates.

I will respond to dolfan's statement about marriage being a religious matter.
The Catholic church has Always held to that standard and do to this day. What is the problem with that? But then they stand against abortion until the "big guy" is asked to speak at Notre Dame. I have heard that there are kids who will not go to their own graduations because he is speaking.....they are the ones being offended. They have worked hard to graduate....He should be ashamed to go there.
