Upset Weekend

Postby Rob » September 27th, 2009, 3:59 pm

Wow, what a weekend, Penn St., Cal, Miami, Ole Miss, all top ten teams go down. I will put out my Top Ten after next weekend, but right now, I think Texas maybe the best team in the Nation.
If I were to read, much less answer, all the attacks made on me, this shop might as well be closed for business. I do the very best I know how, the very best I can, and I mean to keep doing so until the end. If the end brings me out right, what is said against me won't amount to anything. If the end brings me out wrong, ten angels swearing I was right will make no difference." -Abraham Lincoln

Texas has been the most dominant against their opponents, I'd say.

Florida has been consistently good, but not great like it was last year.

Alabama, to me, is looking better each week with room to improve still, but after Dont'a Hightower went down with a torn ACL last night from a cheap hit (legal, but cheap IMO) I'm not as optimistic as I had been about us vs. Ole Miss and LSU.

I was disappointed in Penn State's outcome, and surprised by Iowa's play. I remember when Iowa was really, really a team to worry about. Looks like they're back to old form, and that's good.

I don't think LSU belongs at #4. Had it not been for a poorly executed goal line stall, they'd have lost to Miss. State. They should've lost that game.

To me, Southern Cal is still going to be the team to beat in the Pac-10.

I do know this: I would love to see Bama make to the BCS Championship, but I'd like to see us in the Rose Bowl. That'd be awesome, and hasn't happened in over 60 years. I know the only way we can get to Pasadena is to win the SEC and be undefeated. And, it won't be the Rose Bowl, per se, but would be right there. Would make it relevant for our fight song "remember the Rose Bowl, we'll win then" from back in the day when the Rose Bowl was pretty much it.

My words were proven true.

Washington was overrated, and Oregon was the team to watch out for.

Keep in mind the Ducks held Cal to 3 points with two true freshmen playing the majority of the game at the safety positions after two All-Americans were injured.

The AP poll has us at 18 I believe, the USA Today poll isn't so kind. USA Today is run by Gannett, the same folks who laid me off in July, so I wouldn't expect anything different.

I completely agree that LSU should NOT be number 4

LSU will lose 4 Games before the end of the year. They will lose to Mississippi, Alabama, and 2 of 3 to Georgia, Arkansas, and Auburn. They MAY be a top 25 team but they are no where near a top 10 team.

Best teams are the ones ranked 1-3 right now but whether you like them or not, Boise belongs up there. They beat Oregon handily. They beat Fresno handily at Fresno. Now look at what has happened since. Oregon drums California. Cincinnati barely beats Fresno at home. Boise has a great team.

I respect Boise more after that Oregon win than I did before it. Oregon is good.
