Week of 10-10

After another exciting week of college football here's my top 10

1. Alabama - The best team in the SEC
2. Texas - They didn't look good last night and was probably looking ahead to this weeks Red River Showdown.
3. Florida - Will probably finish undefeated till the SEC Championship Game.
4. USC - Probably hoping for an Oklahoma win this week to give them a shot at the NC game.
5. Va. Tech - Hello Orange Bowl, don't know if anyone in the ACC can them again.
6. Ohio St. - Can't wait for the Iowa/OSU game should be a good one.
7. Cincinnati - Tough game this week at USF
8. Iowa - It was great to be a Hawkeye this week!!!!!!!
9. Miami, FL - Coach Shannon has the Hurricanes back on the map.
10. TCU - Struggled against the Air Force, but I still think they are the best of the Non-BCS teams.

On a side note, I hope my Mountaineers crack the Top 25 this week. But I have my doubts.

Not bad. I think I'd have Oregon at 10. I'm still nervous on calling Bama #1. AP has us at #2. I'll take it gladly. LSU is at #10 in AP. I don't think they deserve that ranking. Florida's offense was just not clicking on all cylinders. LSU's defense let Miss. State ring their bell, but played over their heads against Florida. LSU is no better than #13 or 14, IMO.

Glad to see Arkansas win yesterday. Glad to see Auburn finally play somebody ---- and lose. Too bad for Georgia against UT (those guys have just given up the ghost).

TOP 25 AS OF TODAY
1. Boise State (Prove they aren't!!!!!)
2. Alabama (Look better than Florida)
3. Florida (Can't muster enough offense to beat Bama this time. Watch out for SC. SC matches up better vs. Florida than Alabama.)
4. Texas (Look sloppy half of every game. It will catch them sometime)
5. VaTech (Getting better & no one can stop them in ACC)
6. USC (Good, not great. They'll have their hands full vs. Oregon)
7. South Florida (Why not? Won AT FSU. Cinn. is at home)
8. Miami - (Va Tech was a fluke in the rain. May lose to Clemson & or S.Flo.)
9. Ohio State - (Who cares? Big Ten vs. ACC play in game for BCS spot)
10. Nebraska - Sounded good. Will probably lose to Oklahoma

Pastorbps, how can you have a team ranked at #8 that you think seriously might lose to Clemson? I think Miami is a very good team, don't get me wrong. And, I wouldn't dispute putting them at #8; but I wouldn't put them at #20 if I thought Clemson might realistically beat them. No slam on Clemson; a Bama boy is coaching them, so I've got no issues with them and actually hope they do well.

I don't know if Bama is better than Florida or not. To play them, UA will have to earn that opportunity. The first step in that opportunity is this week vs. South Carolina when Darth Visor comes to Tuscaloosa. They're very good, and again, this game has trap potential. We've got Tennessee the week after, and we're coming off a pounding, hard-hitting game against Ole Miss.

My mind takes me back to the Auburn-LSU game in 2006. In an absolute slugfest of a game, which remains to this date the hardest-hitting game I ever watched, Auburn beat LSU (I think it was 9-6) and jumped to #2 in the rankings. At Auburn the following week, they lost to Arkansas who was at that time unranked.

South Carolina is fully capable of winning and Alabama is capable of giving up some points in a game following a hyped-up match with Ole Miss and before the one game that every Bama fan circles on their calendar months in advance, esp. this year with the coaching melodrama that walks and lives and breathes in the body of Lane Kiffin. With all that, yeah, Alabama needs to focus on the task at hand. If not, Florida is irrelevant.

Also, Harris poll is interesting. Here's their top 10 compared to yours:

Biggest difference is you've got Miami and Iowa in it, they've got Boise and LSU. Otherwise, very close.

SI's hypothetical playoff bracket also as LSU seeded at #10. I don't see it.

Here's the reason. The poll is about where they deserve to be today. Also, football is about matchups and sometimes matchups are just bad. Clemson & Alabama last year. Alabama was a nightmare matchup because Clemson's defense was built to stop speed not strength. Alabama's lines dominated on both sides. Miami is about speed. Clemson is VERY similar to VaTech on defense and VaTech gave Miami fits. Most teams can't handle Miami's speed (Oklahoma included). There are only a handful of teams which can handle Miami's speed and Clemson just happens to be one of them. That being said, Clemson will struggle against grind it out teams like TCU, Wake, and a number of other teams but don't get into a speed battle with them. The present Clemson team was built by Bowden to play spread and against spreads. The problem is they are trying to be a running team without the personnel (especially the line).

P.S. I'm a Clemson fan so that might be the reason too

Are you serious? First, the teams they have played are a combined 11-17 and if you take Oregon out of that mix they are 6-16. Second, they play in a WEAK WAC. Third, yes, the beat a good Oregon team and that win looks better now than it did a few weeks ago, allow me to remind you they struggled to beat a D-II team in Cal. Davis that is 2-3. Fourth, if they played Oregon again now, Oregon would beat them. They don't deserve a Top 10 ranking let alone a Top 5. If a Non-BCS team wants to play in a BCS Bowl they need to schedule nothing but BCS teams in their non conference schedule IMHO.

I agree that FL will struggle against Bama defense, and SC gets beat by 14+ by Bama. SC struggled to beat a weak UK team, plus it's at Bama.

I agree with this as well, except they play to the level of their competion. Except for this weekend. Texas shows that they will play in the NC.

I agee again, but I think they find a way to win and may sneak into the NC game.

Because they will lose this Thursday to Cincinnati, and again the end of the month to WVU, that's why. The win at FSU does not look very impressive right now.

Fluke? Are you serious? Va Tech dominated that game from start to finish.

Columbus cares, other than that not sure.

I agree that LSU doesn't deserve to be in the top 10, but that's why I'm sitting here typing this on J2 and they are filling out the real papers. I'd love to see Boise play somebody.
