UNA #1 in D2, won big Thurs. night

Postby dolfan » October 23rd, 2009, 4:57 am

My Lions wiped out Valdosta State in southern Jawja on Thursday night on CBS College Sports, 62-27. Valdosta has always been a tough, tough rival (right behind Delta State) for UNA. Whatever lapses they had last week they made up for last night.

With the win, UNA is guaranteed at least a share of the Gulf South Conference title.

Oh, yeah ...... they're #1 in the D2 polls (which are really meaningless since D2 has an actual playoff and championships are won, not awarded).

Footballrumormill.com has an article that Terry Bowden may be linked with the Memphis job. I wouldn't doubt it a bit.

UNA won 27-13 against the Arkansas-Monticello Boll Weevils (I LOVE D-2 team names!) and remains #1. Terry Bowden has the Lions 10-0 and playoff bound. Coaching rumor mills online have him connected as a prospect for Memphis, Central Florida and Virginia. Meanwhile, there's been some scuttlebutt that Bobby Bowden may leave Florida State and come back to Alabama as the next coach at UAB. (Fat chance. Daaaaadgum! Daggum! )
