Faith is an amazing thing

Postby dolfan » November 30th, 2009, 4:56 am

This is probably not going in the exact direction you might think.

I am a little incredulous this morning. The global-warming/climate-change crowd has got my dander up and has managed to prove something about human nature all at the same time. And, in the end, what they prove is the best and worst about us. Here's what I'm getting at.

We all are pretty well convinced, here, that climate-change science is political science and nothing more and is, then, not science at all. The language of science is used to create what amounts to a mythical narrative that we are called upon to trust, to place faith in it. Proof needn't be necessary, no precise or pointed experiment is required to demonstrate the global warming theory because the overwhelming number of studies and conclusions drawn by the right people should suffice and anyone who disagrees is just dumb. That's the pitch, basically. The "news" of their version of the "good news" isn't so much global warming as it is redistribution of wealth; "climate change" is just the vehicle and we all know it.

In response to the hack of last week or week before and the release of the "expert" emails, the UN has come out today saying, in essence, "Look, trust us. These emails are just a handful of people. Trust us. The science is there. Believe, just believe. There's no point in resisting. Trust us."

And, yet, no one among them steps out and says, "You know what? This is not a scientific proposal. This is a faith proposal." However, the leaders of it know exactly what it is. And, what it is is nothing less than government-sponsored, government-funded and government-mandated religion, an environmental version of Scientology where we are supposed to be so awestruck by who is following that we follow along as well. And, following with faith in environmentalism is a radical, life-altering proposition that makes no provision for anyone who signs up for it other than some Maslow-conceived idea of "self-actualization".

Faith is an amazing thing. In human hands, it is so broad as to allow itself to be disguised as something other than what it is, and even acquiesces to being called something opposed to what it is.

At the same time, the Christian faith, and by that I mean the trust placed in what Jesus tells to each of us in the Bible, freely admits "this is faith". We leave the proof of it up to God, and we admit with Paul that if it isn't true, then we're miserable. God uses us to prove the truth of His own proposition to His creation. In different ways and to differing degrees of impact, it happens. We do not attempt, though, to use science to prove the resurrection of the Lord. Some might, but more as a novelty and a method of academic inquiry; no serious follower of the Way wastes much time on it as a means of showing the truth of the Gospel. Faith is foolishness, in a word.

There is, it seems to me, going to be a time when all of these theories, all of these phenomena, all of these ideas, are going to run out of steam. New ones will inevitably arise and it is very tiring. The worst thing about it is that our capacity to invent lies is abundant. The best thing about it, though, is the enduring nature of Truth. I am glad today that I live in a country where we can say it aloud (for now), and that I've been called into this faith. I'm glad that I've not followed another one.

Jump in the waters warm.

It's true that this differs from no other corrupt self serving religious outline = Control. With self anointed "Prophets" or shall I say "Profits?" that must be compensated ( yet unaffected by their own sermons ) while they over indulge in the harmful planet destroying excesses.

This is an extremely well crafted hoax that has proliferated at an astounding rate and has possibly altered our American culture forever. All based on a fabricated lie.

How can you make a difference? Start by just warning your kids as they are the hardest most sought after targets. Let them know that God has this planet firmly in HIS control.

Welcome home to common sense everyone.

Wow.. can I quote myself so fast? I guess so. Protect YOUR kids.
This is going to get more outlandish, more push back.. before any responsibility or reality settles back in.

My daughter came home from school recently with a spring in her step and a song on her lips. With no foreshadowing -- or time to call an exorcist -- out came this chilling refrain:
" . . . You can hear the warning -- GLOBAL WARMING . . . "
By the time her father and I removed our jaws from the floor, we had learned that:

A) All the kids had been coerced into singing this catchy ditty, which we called "The Warming Song," at a concert for parents.

B) Further song lyrics scolded selfish adults (that would be us) for polluting our planet and causing a warming scourge that would, in no short order, kill all the polar bears and threaten the birds and bees.

C) There was no deprogramming session on the menu. And no arguing allowed.

... How can you scare the bejeezus out of little kids and small animals if you can't make the mercury move a millimeter? Simple. You lie.

Dolfan,

Here is your headline for today...

Image

Governments were treating the public like “fools” and using climate change to increase taxes.

He said carbon dioxide has had no impact on temperature and that recent warming was part of the natural cycle of climate stretching over billions of years.

...many scientists had a vested interest in promoting climate change because it helped secure more funding for research. He said: “The climate comrades are trying to keep the gravy train going. Governments are also keen on putting their hands as deep as possible into our pockets.

“The average person has been talked down to. He has been treated like a fool. Yet the average person has common sense.”

That is refreshing. Will enough people care? Or, will the already-ongoing discrediting, disinformation campaign work enough?

We really ought to vote out every single person from office in Washington and start over. Good grief.

Absolutely.. starting with these nuts.

Boxer: Hackers should face criminal probe over 'Climategate'
http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing- ... inal-probe

"You call it 'Climategate'; I call it 'E-mail-theft-gate,'" she said during a committee meeting.

Boxer said her committee may hold hearings into the matter as its top Republican, Sen. James Inhofe (Okla.), has asked for, but that a criminal probe would be part of any such hearings.

"We may well have a hearing on this, we may not. We may have a briefing for senators, we may not," Boxer said. "Part of our looking at this will be looking at a criminal activity which could have well been coordinated.

"This is a crime," Boxer said.

*******

The "crime" is the Climategate hoax and BILLIONS + of tax dollars already spent on this garbage. Yet these myopic individuals.. will swallow the camel and strain at the nat!!!

Beam me up Scotty.

Just last week I was debating with some folks on FAcebook about the climate, they are libs, and they spilled their doctrine of course. The next thing I know one of the guys says he was headed to the coffee shop.

Now here's my question. Are coffee shops actually needed? I don't care if they exist or don't exist BUT IF YOU are truly afraid and concerned that CO2 is destroying the Earth then why participate and patronize a facility or chain of facilities that does not need to exist?\

Do they consider how much energy, mostly electrical, is required to build and operate a coffee shop? Those coffee pots use loads of electricity. The lights, the tv's, the radios, etc. are all a waste of electricity and contributing to massive amounts of CO2.

As I said I don't care because I don't believe man could destroy the Earth if he wanted to (I've read the good book and I know that God will do that) but why be a hypocrite and tell me to by an electric car (which has to be plugged into the wall and requires hydroelectric power essentially) and then you go and sit with your liberal friends sipping coffee?

Danny,
Iwill not debate the Coffee Shop issue with you. I am a coffee lover and have my own views on coffee shops. the important thing that you brought up here is the electrical car scam. However it is worse than you pointed out. If all electrical cars derived their power from hydro-electrical sources it would be one thing. Hydro-electrical power is one of the cleanest power sources. Yet it only accounts for a little over 7% of the total electrical production of the country. Most of the country relies on fossil fuel to power their electrical plants.

Image

Simply buying an electric car will not reduce the Carbon Footprint. All you are actually doing is moving the footprint from the car to the electrical plant that is burning coal or oil to generate the electricity. Frankly I'm not convinced that a greenhouse earth would be such a bad thing. After all CO2 is needed by plants, who in turn produce Oxygen which is needed by animals, including man. More CO2 = more plants = more oxygen = more animal life. Is this what they are afraid off?

The dirty little secret on Electric cars is battery lifespan. These rascals require a boatload of batteries that only recharge so many times. Then you have to completely buy all new batteries again to keep your car going. Estimated to be thousands of dollars. Imagine that possibility when buying a used electric car? I never buy new.

But this is all MOOT.. if we are being feed a bunch of lies on Global Warming.
The internal combustion engine has increased our modern quality of life in extraordinary ways and it's not going to be replaced anytime soon. This is really a way to extort more tax dollars from our back pockets.

Researcher: NASA hiding climate data
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/200 ... mate-data/

The numbers matter. Under pressure in 2007, NASA recalculated its data and found that 1934, not 1998, was the hottest year in its records for the contiguous 48 states. NASA later changed that data again, and now 1998 and 2006 are tied for first, with 1934 slightly cooler.
